I know some people on a specific sub Reddit who’re going to lose their shit.

Though I wonder why they chose this and not Kenzan.

I'm not as familiar with this game as the other Yakuza games, but I'm still interested in checking it out. Its also neat that its getting an Xbox and Steam release which was confirmed by RGG on Twitter:

Just the terms of difficulty - Ishin is quite easy to remake with just a little lifting, considering it was a late PS3/early PS4 game after all, same as Yakuza 0 - while for Kenzan you need to rebuild the game from the ground up, mostly regarding how many actual actors appeared in Kenzan and provided their appearance using face-scanning tech, and around ~15 years old between its release and current time.

But this version is rebuild from the ground up too as it was stated in State of Play.

Yes, but most of the character assets are existed since older games like 6, Kiwami and 7, considering most of Ishin roster are just Yakuza series protagonists, antagonists and regulars.

To remake Kenzan you need to hire entirely new cast of actors for more than a half of the cast, or somehow remake the ~15-year-old PS3 game models of actual actors to make them look at least modern.

I mean this game specifically has characters from 7 and even 0 filling in for some characters who in the original game were pulled from the mainline games that had been released at the time. So it’s not like it would’ve been impossible.

Hell we all that have played 4 remember what happened to the original actor who modeled for and voiced Tanimura when they released the remaster. I think they even changed some of the hostesses models as well.

Two Best Friends or Yakuza?

The correct answer should be: Yes.
