One of the greatest art directors in the history of anime. I especially love his work on Utena, and we're lucky he got to work on so many shows and movies. May he rest in peace.

Feels incredibly difficult to sum up his entire body of work, what an absolute legend. I've seen a fair amount of the shows/films he worked on (Utena, Angel's Egg, Berserk, Cagliostro, etc...) but others I only just discovered more recently like Nobody's Boy Remi.

His stylish watercolor artstyle in movies such as Utena, Angel's Egg or Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer is beautiful and immediately recognizable to me. He definitely was one of the greatest anime art directors ever.
