Probably (In order of most to least likely to me) either a movie covering volume 7 (And probably what little of Volume 6 was left out), another OVA (Likewise an OVA series covering 7 could work too I suppose),a simple recap movie, a second season (Not enough material right now, but with Volume 9 coming out in July, Harusono planning a sequel set in college and the recently released second year novel, there could be enough by years end) or an adaption (Movie? OVA? Series?) of the spinoff manga Hirano and Kagiura (Though in this case I feel like they could have specified at least that much).
Honestly at this point I doubt even the anime team knows and this was a last minute decision based on unexpected popularity. |

I don't remember volume 7 having enough going on to justify becoming a movie, especially now that everything is supposed to rival Mugen Train. I think its most dramatic scenes were flashbacks. I suppose volume 7 itself could be repurposed as a framing device for a recap movie. An original movie would be cool, though, considering the anime covers nearly two years chronologically. Lots of genre staples got glossed over that could get expanded on, playing up the core dynamic while only threatening to maybe brush fingers with the status quo, in true SasaMyaa style. The (upcoming?) OVAs have original stories, IIRC, so there's some precedent. |

I'm really happy that Sasaki to Miyano got a new anime!! I was sad thinking that we might not see more about this cute story in animated form but once I saw the announcement of the new anime project I was so excited!! I do think volume 7 could make a great movie!! Well for now would be to wait for more details

Sasaki and Miyano was my favorite show of the winter season so I'm really happy it's getting more anime regardless of it's format as it seems like BL shows rarely get more than one season made.

It helps that SasaMyaa is Boys LIFE and not Boys LOVE. The author's done a fantastic job of avoiding all the terrible tropes that plague so many BL series, so much so that it's not even labeled BL anywhere. As others have said, there's just not enough material for them to make a second season, and 'Hirano to Kagiura' only has half the content and no clean stopping point right now, so a movie is more likely, or another OVA (in addition to the one already coming with Volume 9). Since Volume 9 will likely cover the remainder of Miyano's third year to segue into the announced College Years Spin-off, a movie or OVA that covers the chapters between the confession (31) and the end of Volume 9 (assume 4-5 chapters in that volume like most previous ones, we'd be up to chapter 48ish) would be perfect for closing out that arc and starting the new one. |

Amazing news!!
I think it will be a movie up to Volume 9 or a Hirano and Kagiura adaptation. Let's wait and see!! |

Oh my god, can you please stop spreading this stupid misinformation?! It's BL. It's Boy's Love. Just because you apparently have an incredibly narrow and myopic idea of what Boy's Love is (that seems to boil down to "I think BL is bad, ergo: BL that I like is not actually BL!") doesn't mean that is reality, that is how the industry operates, or that the author would even agree with you. Also, "Boy's Life" is not a thing, it's not an actual genre or category or anything, it very obviously is just a tongue-in-cheek wordplay made up to reflect the nature of the story. If you think something that is not a tropefest can't belong in a particular category (we're not even talking about genres here!) then I'd love to see you tell say, Gin Toriko that Kimi wo shinasenai... is not a shoujo manga because it's sci-fi and it doesn't have sparkly romance or any of the tropes that people who think labels such as shoujo/shounen/BL/etc. are genres associate with "shoujo manga". By all means take it up with her, I'll bring popcorn.
(Oh crap, who forgot to send the memo to pixiv and chil-chil?!) Maybe, just maybe it's not labeled "BL" in many places because it's not published under a BL label... maybe... but hey, I'm sure it's more realistic that the bigwigs sat down and read the manga and said "hey, this is such an amazing and revolutionary work, it doesn't contain any of the terrible BL tropes, y'know what, let's not put it in the BL category!" (Also, I admit I haven't read much of the manga because it's not my cup of tea, but just the idea that it doesn't contain any BL tropes when just the two main characters already fall into a number of BL stereotypes is just... well. Let's just say I've seen BL that was like 90% ero and still went against BL stereotypes more than what I've seen this manga do.) |

Personally, I found SasaMyaa enjoyable but kind of dated. Well-intentioned, but too reliant on certain kinds of tropes without totally grasping the implications underneath or how to work them into a character arc. Another series using the Boys Life tag that I read recently, I Cannot Reach You, demonstrates a much stronger grasp of male psychology (and, like, basic character motivations) in its ongoing efforts to keep its leads from getting together. That said, the entire discussion is kind of moot because the label wasn't even Harusono's idea. It is meant to stand for "love story between boys" as well as the slice-of-life component. So, you know, it's BL. |

Seriously. And yes, you can go back to much, much earlier than the mid-2000s and you'll find m/m - by women, for a primarily female audience, which was the thing that differentiated BL from "gay manga" by gay men for gay men - that simply do not fit the incredibly narrow definition of "BL" that fencer-x seems to have. There's the works of Yura Tamaki (由良環), for example, way back from the '90s.Hell, as someone who's been reading this stuff since the '90s, I'd go as far as saying there's never been anything we could call "established boundaries", only mainstream and less mainstream/niche. Just like how yes, there's a lot of isekai nowadays, but it's not like that's the only thing that exist, and there's a lot of variation even within that. There were always creators of BL (or whatever it was called at any given time) who weren't following mainstream trends and stereotypes, and there was always an audience for their works. Just like there is now. This is why I'm grumbling every time someone points at a recent manga/whatever and says "this is unlike anything I, personally, have experienced before, so it must be something new and revolutionary!" 99% of the time it's not the case, it's simply the person saying that has little experience with that genre/subgenre/category/whatever. I think it's less that the mangaka has managed to avoid "terrible tropes" and more that you've managed to avoid all the interesting BL that has come out in the last few years. For me personally, I don't have anything against "Sasaki to Miyano", but I don't think it's very funny and it sort of oddly skips over the more interesting minutiae that a good slice of life series revels in. It's also about four volumes too long at this point. I'm glad you enjoy it and I'm always happy to see BL get a second season--especially when it's a type of BL people have been clamoring for--but as for the proselytizing, all I can say is "Achira Kochira Bokura" it is not. It's a perfectly nice generic shoujo romcom series that has two male protagonists instead. |

The ending was so good and satisfying!!!
I hate to admit but my only annoyance with the show came from Miyano and his internal struggle lol not to stereotype but him not embracing his attraction seemed less likely vs Sasaki who was more open to with his attraction to Miyano. Him loving BL novels and the denial he had for himself screamed so much internalized homophobia and was so mental it threw me off However, there were certain moments like when Miyano told Sasaki he may not always have "feminine" or "small" features gave his struggle a little more nuance. Overall the show was very cute and lots of sincerity. |
