I knew something was afoot seeing how it started talking about its 20th anniversary late last year.

One of the better Jump titles for sure. Would definitely read it although I am a bit skeptical about Raiku's writing capabilities since he hasn't produced anything of significance ever since Gash Bell ended.
All these news, man, and still no new Katekyo Hitman Reborn anime project. I just want to watch my boi Hibari Kyouya in the animated form once again!

Gash Bell isn't a Jump series. It's not even published by Shueisha.

Whoops, my bad. I wonder why I was under the impression that it was a Jump manga.

Gash Bell is my all time favorite series. I'm curious where this is going to go. Unlike other sequels to popular manga, this one being doing by the author himself makes me less skeptical. I hope this leads to a new anime adaption.

Ow wow, color me surprised. There definitely was a feeling in the recollections of the series "Gash Cafe" segments that he still felt a bit of attachment and desire to do things with the characters in this series. There's also how Vector Ball ended (not that I've read the conclusion) but more that he seemed stressed out over where to take the story by his own admission. I hope whatever stressors were getting at him back then are at least alleviated. I also hope some of his more problematic aspects (basically Lupa, I was never fond of here caricature design and her "cameo" in animal land genuinely pisses me off and makes me sick. There straight up is no excuse.)
I otherwise have a lot of fondness for the series, it being my first anime/manga and all, but by no stretch was it Shakespeare or anything so if nothing else, I'm cautiously optimistic to see where Makoto's improved writing sensibilities (if it was that and not just Animal Land being shorter in structure and length) decides to take the characters as Gash Bell did end off on a note that, while conclusive, did make you ask questions about where things could go from there for Gash Kiyo and co. as well as his general sense of humor.

This brings back memories...although I thought it had something to do with The Flash when I first saw that logo.

Maybe because there’s been no legal access to either the manga or anime (Crunchyroll isn’t streaming it anymore) in English for some time now? And even when the English audience had access, going by the article, neither the manga nor anime were available in their entirety.

Hmmm this seems like a good time for Discotek to license the original series. I'll take the sub release since that was a 4Kids dub I think and those are really hit or miss (and when they do hit it's mostly abridged like hit).

I'm really hoping Kodansha USA gets its act together and reprints this series with a new translation. I understand why the main character's name must be changed, but everybody else's name is not a piece of vulgarity, so I'd hope they would retain those.
They went all out for Shaman King and it's spinoffs. I hope they capitalize and do the same here.

4Kids did not dub Zatch Bell, Viz Media did.
