The more I keep analyzing this trailer the more confused I get because there's some stuff that is literally impossible. What are you up to, Takahashi?

1 had a closed ending.
2 had a closed ending.

where the frick is X's sequel? That ending was a cliffhanger so wide you could do multiple sequels off of it <_<

Trust me I know the feeling. After all, spoiler[How the hell are they still alive if the database of the Lifehold Core was destroyed the moment when they crashed landed months ago!?! Everyone except Elma and the other alien races they met should be dead! And who was that Mysterious character who approached Lao's body on the beach who is still alive somehow!?! Does this tie into any other Xeno series!?!]

That said I'm thinking this is the end of Chronicles series if this is a trilogy. From what the trailer said both of the XC1 and XC2 worlds are coming together somehow (maybe via one of the 3 Trinity Processor weapons? We don't know where the 3rd one is yet I believe Edit: the 3rd onespoiler[ should be destroyed]. These games stories are complex as hell). Maybe the X series is up next after that other untitled project Monolith Soft is working on?

I'm so unbelievably hyped. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is one of my favorite games of all time and Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is amazing. Monolith makes beautiful games and I have full faith in them to make something magical. Most hyped game this year by far.

Judging by the trailer, most likely. The director has said that it will be a fine starting point, but the trailer seems to have several connections to the older games, so it will probably be recommended to play 1 and 2 first.
