As a hockey fan, I still feel obligated to give the game a try. The anime isn't bad per say. It just wasn't what I was expecting...

I find Manaka Mizusawa and Yu Kiyose in particular to be cute, and they all looked good playing beach volleyball.

I am one of the apparently few people watching and enjoying PuraOre! ~Pride of Orange. Most of the negative predictions made prior to the show actually airing have not yet come to pass.

Most other anime I was looking forward to ended up disappointing me at least a little bit, but Pride of Orange turned out to be a hidden gem for me this season.
The new Lupin is really average, Komi-san is sluggish and it failed to replicate the atmosphere of the manga and the new JoJo just looks visually awful.
I didn't expect anything from PuraOre, but I got a really enjoyable, simple anime that blends slice of life shenanigans, emotional moments and hockey together very well, together with great music and visuals.
The only real fault I can find in it is the idol aspect, which didn't need to be there at all, but it comes up so extremely rarely even that's not much of a problem for me.

I only started watching PuraOre! ~Pride of Orange out of perverseness to all the negativity and morbid curiosity to see how bad the show really was, and was pleasantly surprised to find it worth watching. I do not really follow hockey anymore, but have seen enough to have no complaints about what happens on the ice (other than the idol dance - did they glue sandpaper to the bottom of their boots?).
My only real complaint is how cute girls turn ghoulish when they put on the hockey helmets with face shields - this part of the character design should have been revised prior to drawing the (virtual) cels.
