Nice review!
I finished Shelby's route and am currently waiting on the patch. I would really prefer to have the best possible experience. Though this really messes with my gaming plans. I definitely have enough to play to tide me over but the start of next year looks stacked again. Goodbye "playing games at release date"... probably. I'm glad they noticed the error early and started working on it. But I expected this to go a lot faster considering that the problem is that the edited script wasn't implemented. I don't really know how fast would be normal or to be expected, however. Well, at least it's getting fixed without people having to make a major stink about it (CxM Unlimited...). |

Well this is a surprise but a welcome one! Yeah the severe translation issues and patch delay are a bummer but this game is just so so fun. While stuff like Taishou X Alice and Hakuoki are interesting due to their handling of the plot, it's always just nice for romcom type otomes to be localised too. The visual design of this entire game is like a unicorn vomitted on the screen and it's just glorious, I also feel like these sort of over the top flairs suits this artist's style a bit more than cafe enchante.
I have an incredible soft spot for horrible otome men™️ that aren't just shitty tsunderes so this game was made for me, it is unbearably clear why the average woman would not be able to deal with them so seeing how Lynette navigates their charm points is just pure fun especially coupled with the absolute insanity that is the story at times |

That's a shame about the translation issues. I have this on my wishlist because it sounded pretty funny (trying to get a bunch of deadbeats to learn how to Love) and the fact the heroine has a personality is pretty good.
I guess I'll just wait for more patches, if they hopefully come.. Really disappointing to hear though. That screenshot of the text going off the screen is ridiculous; it seems like they didn't get anyone to QC the game at all. Super unprofessional for such an established company. As an aside, does the fact a bunch of characters are named after famous writers mean anything within the game (like connections to their works) or is it just some weird choice? (Imagine being named Shelby Snail...poor dude) |

Indeed. Say what you will about Code:Realize, but even though that game had its own share of localization issues, they weren't nearly as pervasive, and I never saw an instance where the text went off the screen. |

Aksys/Idea Factory have been cranking out Otome games like crazy lately, which is great for fans, but I'm not surprised that there are text issues - there always have been in these games and they just get worse and worse. I'm personally not terribly bothered as long as it's readable, but it sucks we're getting to the point where it... isn't so readable.
I'm more concerned about the allegation of machine translations for these games. I've heard a lot of complaints about Otomate translations and other people who have said that they are machine translations, but the writing seem too cohesive for that to be entirely the case. Seems more likely that they're just paying peanuts to freelancers and getting what they paid for. It'd just be interesting to know, since a lot of people like to jump to conclusions about translation quality without understanding a thing about the industry. |

The errors coming out of Aksys in these games seem to mostly be due to the sheer amount of text to translate. Idea Factory International, I think, is just way less capable of this sort of thing. Their translations are fine for their RPGs, but those usually have way less text in general. It kinda doesn't help that Aksys tends to get the better ones and Idea Factory International gets some of the more awkward ones. At least it sounds better than the translation Alice in the Heart ~Wonderful Wonder World~ got, which was just straight up blatant machine translation and didn't really make any sense. https://legendsoflocalization.com/this-be-bad-translation-17-alice-in-the-heart-wonderful-wonder-world/ |

Oh WOW that is truly awful. Makes me glad it's not available to buy anymore (plus I probably would have wasted my money on it). I never saw more than a couple screenshots so I didn't realize how bad the translation was. |

Ah yes... I remember seeing some dodgy translations, though I don't remember if it was this one (but I think it was on that website so maybe I repressed the full memory due to its awfulness). It can always be worse, I suppose. |
