Will those two go head to head next year? Though SoraIro Utility doesn't say if it's also coming out next year.

That one fells like golf meets CGDCT, like puraore this season. This one seems more grounded in reality than that one, but knowing namco i am kind of looking forward to this one. |

Not surprised at all that there’s more golf anime in the works. Golf was already rather popular in Japan, and then after Hideki Matsuyama won the Masters this year, its popularity exploded. (And that’s before adding on to that all the other golf achievements by Japanese players this year.) I have a feeling we’ll be seeing even more of these in the coming years.

Thought this was the other golf anime and was like "huh, why are there only two characters now".
What a world we live in. Every so often fate convenes to make two pieces of media about the exact same thing come out near each other. Always wild when it happens |

I mean, they're both anime-originals; since we know basically nothing about either besides the promo image, I could just as easily write this one off as "hot girls doing hot sports" in the vein of Hanebad(o) and that rock-climbing anime. Sports anime, unless they're moefied, are often for fanservice, though obviously not only of women since Free exists. Even if it doesn't go there, the characters tend to be the opposite gender of the intended audience, as seen in this and in Yuri On Ice. The main sense in which this appears grounded in reality is that it's sponsored by some sort of golf lobbying organization, making it sort of an ad for pro golfing broadcasts. |

Technically most sports anime do not have fanservice. Anime about girls' sports however are FAR more likely to have them. But that is almost always going to be made-up sports (Keigo) or obscure sports that don't have spectator followings (Kandagawa Jet Girls, Sport Climbing Girls, How Heavy Are The Dumbbells That You Lift) and yes note that male anime about obscure/made up sports tend not to exist. As for these two, Birdie Wing does not have a "this is a fanservice anime" promotional image (the young ladies have normal body types, are in normal poses, are wearing regular clothes, etc.). As for Soralto Utility yes these are Trigger alum and though Trigger is famous for fanservice - they are backing away from it in recent years as there was basically none in Brand New Animal and SSSS.Dynazenon had less than SSSS.Gridman ... evidence is that the former didn't have an entire article bemoaning it like the latter's animenewsnetwork.com/this-week-in-anime/2018-11-15/.139515 - it isn't advertising the prospect of fanservice either. It looks much more like a "cute moe girls doing cute things" anime. Compare the promotional image of Upotte!! (the central image is right up FNC's too-short skirt) to the golf anime ones and you will see the point. |

I don't know about that. We've recently had Skate Leading Stars, which was about a non-existent variation of team figure skating, and Prince of Stride, about a non-existent variation on parkour and freerunning. There are also some made-up sports anime that are not sex-segregated. I dunno about a golf anime. I'd rather watch chess than golf, but both would be pretty boring as a weekly series I'd think. A movie at best. But then, I haven't found golf movies like Bagger Vance very riveting either (its other issues aside). And people think baseball is boring? :/ Competitive darts anime when? |

Contrary to what others have said, I wasn’t aware that there was another golf anime prior to this one.
