I hope this means we'll be seeing the entirety of Part 1 dubbed (hopefully with the Parts 4 and 5 crew), and on Blu-Ray. Of course, that'll leave fans of Part 3 in the lurch, as nobody bothered dubbing that.

Isn't Part 3 what was originally brought over to Cartoon Network back in ye olden times? So a fair bit of it was dubbed way back when, I'd thought.

Nah, that was Part 2, the Red Jacket series. Part 3, the Pink Jacket series, was never dubbed into English, as far as I know. The closest we've gotten is the movie Legend of the Gold of Babylon.

Not that I care, since I never cared for Part 3, but it does have its fans.

It does have a banger of an opening theme, but that's all I've seen of it myself.

I think it's a historic thing. Part 1 is the original. It has been dubbed in very few languages. Part 1 is also only 24 episodes. Part 3 is longer, and less historically significant.

it is said Part 1 can't be dubbed due to the loss of the audio masters necessary to make a dub(similar to Gunbuster for years),however it did get dubbed in Spanish and portuguese for broadcast in Latin America around 1997/98

If this happens hopefully it's with the masters Netflix Japan has since the Japanese BDs are known to be pretty crap due to a frozen grain problem on those discs and Discotek's DVDs are based off that same master.

Awesome news! I was hoping that with the dub of part 5 coming out on Blu-ray and the success of Lupin The First over here with the English dub that there might be a chance they would go back and dub some of the older stuff.

Yes! The very first episode of Lupin will be dubbed hopefully the rest of Part 1 and 2 will get a new dub. They might even make new dubs for all the Lupin movies and specials that were once licensed by Funimation
