Are these movies worth a watch? After E7:Ao I'm very cautious about this franchise...

Unless they manage to pull off a miracle with this movie, they really aren't worth it. If you've only seen Ao, you haven't seen half the depths they've gone to completely trash the series.

I saw the first one but I never got to see the second one, I know funimation had promotions for the screening of the second film but I never saw them actually release in theaters. I know it was released at the Expo but man the first one was so disappointing. At this point I’ve lost all momentum to watch them.

As someone who didn't really like the original Eureka 7 show, specifically the latter half (the first half I like), I'm all in for this crazy new direction for this movie series. It's kind of a shame the movies don't seem to be making a lot of buzz within the Western fan community, though I haven't seen them myself and everything I've read they seem not super popular.

I just wish it had been shorter, it feels like a 2 cour show that was stretched out to 4.

I've really enjoyed the first two movies. The first one is 1/3 prologue to the main series, and then the other 2/3's are a recap of an arc from the middle of the series.
The second movie was weird, but in a good way. It's a different take on Anemone, one of my favourite characters from the original series, with some great animation, and connecting to the rest of the franchise in an interesting way. It's been a long time since I watched it, and my memory is a bit fuzzy.

WTF am I even looking at here...
Please stop, Kyouda. How much longer do you have to abuse one of my favourite series featuring some of my favourite characters until you're satisfied?

Like E7 Ao, if you look at the movies in the context of the original TV series, they're kinda bad (even with how close the first movie follows the original story). But if you look at them without ANY context whatsoever, they're kinda good in a weird sort of way.
Technically, the movies are really well made.
(I still have no idea what the writers were thinking either.)

Dewey on his third voice for the third movie due to the unfortunate timing of the previous two voices dying after recording for each movie.Let's hope Yamadera still has a long life ahead...

It's disappointing that Dai Sato didn't stick around to finish the trilogy. I wonder if he and Tomoki Kyoda had a falling-out.

I don't know how they could take what was a relatively straightforward story and keep overcomplicating and twisting it. I mean, Ao was bad enough.
I guess if you're here for stunning Bones animation, you'll get your wish.

That is a hard question to answer. If it was just the first movie, I would say no. It jumps around a lot and the main way I could follow it was from watching the first series. It wasn't really a recap in the traditional sense, but it also didn't do much that was new. The second movie does something new, but it feels like without seeing the third movie, it's hard to know what it's trying to do.

Considering this is the third Hi-Evolution movie of three, this may end up being his limit.

What happened to Renton? Also, Eureka looks like she's become a badass, channeling her inner Ellen Ripley...

Just reading the plot description of this makes me cringe. The original series is one of my all-time favorites, but every single thing since has sounded like some degree or another of total dogshit, and I have no desire to subject myself to them.
