Hmm I know dubbed PVs (especially those based on the Japanese PV) are not always very indicative of a dub's quality... but man this doesn't really hit for me.
Could change down the line but my initial impression is that this is just an example that not every reboot automatically needs cast reprisals. Its hard to explain, but some of the returning actors sound out of place/dated to a 2021 ear (like "oh that voice would fly with that design back in 2001, but it sure is weird now") or jarring next to one another.
Just as an example, I've heard directors say a big consideration when casting is how voices work off each other and sound as a group. Casting a woman as Yoh is totally fine on its own (sounds like Laura Stahl here?), but that voice next to the way older/more masculine sounding Manta or Horo Horo makes it stand out a lot more in a negative way.
I do think there have been dubbed reboots/sequels that have nailed integrating returning and new voices (heck, that even includes reboots of shows that originally aired only a day apart from Shaman King back in 2001). But if they weren't going to go in a completely new direction (which would have been my personal preference even if I did grow up watching the old Shaman King dub) I wish they were a bit more selective on reprisals.

Ohhh, it does sound like Michael Sinterniklaas and Tara Sands get to reprise their voice roles.

I can spot Lisa Ortiz from a mile away so there's definitely some reprisals. But I don't remember Anna sounding anything like that.

Regardless of what anyone says about the quality of this dub, I think it's an amazing thing in itself that so many of the original actors are returning after all this time. I look forward to hearing them play these characters again.

Memories are a funny thing, right? That was my first reaction upon hearing her too, but going back and listening to the old series' dub again, it's definitely the exact same voice.

Looks like it's a mix of following the sub in casting female VA's for Yoh and Ren (which is also probably practical because getting their voices back would be the most difficult compared to anyone else) and bringing back as much of the original cast as possible. Which I guess is also accurate to the sub up to a point.
Probably a NYAV Post dub.

It sounds more high-pitched than I remember her Anna sounding but her second line sounded more like her, so I think it's still Tara Sands.

I've always been one the side of "Started with the manga/didn't watch much of the dub/don't have a huge attachment to the dub voices", but I'm thinking I may have subconsciously formed an attachment to them, because these new ones do not sound promising.

Were people really clamoring for them to get back a 4Kids dub cast? I know people like consistency, but... really?

It was one of the better acted 4Kids dubs, was decently recieved compared to a lot of the other stuff they've handled and quite a few of those VAs are still active so it's not like they'd lose much by making an attempt. Besides a lot of the 4Kids/NY pool were and are extremely talented. It's not their fault they often had to deal with the crappy voice direction and weird script choices of 4Kids dubs. Odds are they'll sound perfectly fine in this.
That said I'm speaking from a pretty biased perspective here because I do have a pretty good amount of attachement to the 4Kids dub warts and all, so I'm really happy they bothered to make an attempt at reprisals given how often reboots tend to just wipe the slate clean when it comes to dub casts. The only real exceptions have been stuff like DBZ Kai and Fruits' Basket 2019, so it's cool these actors can get a second chance to show what they'd have been capable of under better circumstances.

If you think that was good, the Latin American Spanish dub brought back almost all the original voice actors, barring some exceptions.

I'm just glad they're not gonna bastardize Yoh's character from a laid-back lackadaisical hippie to a cheeseburger-binging wannabe rock star. Also, his original dub voice was a little too deep in comparison, so that's a plus.
Perhaps best of all, they've kept the original names. No more "Morty Oyamada" or "Tao Lenny" or... (Shudder) "Trey Racer." Also, how hard can it be to say "Hao?" Why TF did 4Kid$ change his name to "Zeke?" They couldn't have lost the rights to the Shaman King property fast enough.

So far, Brazilian Portuguese is bringing everyone back too.

I'm still not sure where people are able to see an official link of the trailer at because it doesn't show up for me when I go to the Netflix site and it's not on their official Twitter or YouTube page. But I was able to someone who had uploaded it to YouTube. I never grew up with the 4Kids as that point I had already moved on from Saturday morning anime and I watched the original Shaman King through fansubs so I don't really have any nostalgia attachment to the 4Kids dub cast. I'm glad for the fans of that dub that they got back most of the original cast and it is nice to see New York voice actors doing more dubbing roles again. Watch Sentai get the home video rights and have to either release it sub only or do their own dub with an entirely different cast. Being impartial to this dub the voice cast sounds fine to me and it makes sense to me that they would make it sound a little cheesy if the goal of this reboot is to appeal to nostalgia anime fans. The one questionable choice is they seem to be bringing back the British accents for the dub. It's not too bad for Jun but it's going to be a little too cringe for Ren. All this reinforces that all the choices that were made for the Evangelion redub were all Khara's doing and not Netflix.

I think it's a little too soon to say this for sure. Ren and Jun only had one line each in the trailer, and I didn't get the impression they were doing any particular accent. We'd have to hear more to know for sure.

Was Yoh truly "bastardised"? I recall him, and Sebastian's performance, being rather likeable myself.
Lenny was just a nickname, IIRC. And from what I've read once about Hao/Zeke's name... They "might" have changed it because his name combined with one of his past lives may have come off as politically incorrect, or something. But anyway, while I don't have the same vitriolic feelings towards the dub that you do, I agree it's better for them to use the original names for the reboot dub!
