We're still waiting for the physical volumes from the aforementioned kickstarter, but any updates recently have only been about trinkets, charms, lanyards, covid delays... I give them a passing grade in the negatives.
The artist herself is good at her craft, but production has been sparse since Kodomo no Jikan Houkago, mainly several one-volume yaoi, and an ecchi comedy called Queen's Artist/Joou-sama no Eshi in 2014.

This several times over. 5 years and still no physical volumes.

Nice to see she's back at it! The premise sounds fun.

I've been out of the loop for a while now, anyone mind giving me a cliff note version on the KnJ kickstarter?

Well, I dunno the specifics, but IIRC, I've heard/read DMP used the funds from the KnJ kickstart to use on other kickstarted projects instead, the backers have even yet to get their physical volumes (and associated perks) that they pleged for. Though KnJ did get a digital release, IIRC, but nothing for the physicals after all this time.
But basically, the short version is DMP lately has a history of mismanaging projects and stuff lately. I can't even remember the last time they were commented or contacted for anything related to this. Or even if they're still around, at all.

Oh they're still around to some extent at least. They reprinted a Tezuka book or two recently.

I follow her on Twitter and she had a bunch of art page boards up of this and they looked really nice. I would love to read this eventually.

I just backed a KS project today and they now have a "rewards are not a guarantee" advisory and how they can't do anything to ensure you get what you pay for prior to pledging. I instantly thought of DMP and laughed.
But yes, I am one of the many KnJ backers and...has it really been 5 years..? Wow. Had it not been for the update this week about the fancy keychains and stuff that arrived, I would not have thought about it at all.
I'm looking forward to another Watashiya work. I really liked Jousama.
