Good news, i wasn't expecting a sequel until much later considering the pace, was there an announcement from the author about a come back like The Faraway Paladin's author did ( it wasn't really a hiatus for IS though ) ?

Why. This is the most mediocre thing put on screen in the last 5 years or so. Who the hell even remembers this show.

Great news! Loved the first season of the anime and the light novels. Will get round to reading the manga at some point too.

I do. I loved the first season, and can't wait for another. It's one of the great iyashi-kei series.

We've had a few "Wait, that's getting a sequel?" announcements in the last year or 2 but I definitely think this takes the cake for the most out of left field.
Now if only we could have the same premise (or even a spinoff) but instead of following a Light Novel plot, we'd have characters from other Kadokawa properties as diners, that would be very cash money.

Seven Seas has published all five volumes of the light novel. The last came out in January of this year.

I wonder, how many volumes did s1 adapt from this series anyway?

The first season adapted multiple short stories from the first 3 volumes, however it was not in chronological order. Considering only the first 3 volumes, there are 60 chapters, 4 prologues and 3 bonus chapters, of them only 24 were animated ( 2 per episodes ) so in fact they don't even need to adapt volumes 4&5.

Huh interesting, so their is no real overall plot just a series of random short stories spread about throughout the volumes so they can be adapted entirely as how they wanted it to be.

That's it, actually, during the second season, they can even adapt chapters predating the appearance of Kuro without there being inconsistencies for anime only watchers, or they could just make subtle changes from the original work and make her appear in the background for such chapters.
