I have no clue about whether this could be good. On one hand, Hellsing is probably one of the best properties to adapt in manga due to the large european and American cast. On the other hand, hellsing has a lot that happens, and the TV budget would have to be astronomical to do all that happens in the manga. It also has some themes that may not agree with people today, and I fear those themes may be changed. Personally, I feel something like Baccano would be much easier to adapt, but I digress...

The amount of blood that is shed in the manga/OVA is going to look less grisly and more absurd in live action.

I'd be happier if it was a series rather than a single work. And I'd give it better odds for, I guess I would say acceptance outside of the main anime fandom, if it was toned down to the level of the first anime, though longer than that like two seasons, or 13 or so 1 hour episodes, or something, would be better.
I still wish them luck. This isn't going to be an easy one.

I mean, it's nice that they got the John Wick writer I guess, but those are pretty basic revenge movies. What made them special is the director / stunt coordinator, Chad Stahelski.

Not sure which would be better, if he was Alucard or Integra lol.

I'd be down for this if it was a show, not a film. The potential cheese and absurdity would be great. But there's way too many characters to make this work in a single film, it would be a watered down mess. You would need a trilogy of films for it to potentially work and you wouldn't get to that without hitting a home-run with the first film.

I for one am glad Hellsing is given the live action treatment.
I hope it’s good.

At first glance, I’m sure this is a good idea to adapt something like Hellsing given how dark and brutal it gets.
On the other hand, the person who wrote the John Wick movies might inspire some confidence.
We’ll see what happens.

I've said for years that if Hollywood wanted to adapt an anime as live action they should do Hellsing since it already has a Western setting and it's a vampire action series that's not like a super complicated plot. But I agree it would be better as a show like on HBO Max or something.

This both makes sense and don't make sense. It has a western setting and characters, making it very easy to adapt. It's an easy sell to anyone who doesn't have any interest in Manga/Anime. Also being an easy sales pitch.
At the same time, why bother when you could easily make this without even having to adapt the title. Say what you want about Death Note on Netflix, that is at least a story that you couldn't just come up with independently without it being called a rip-off. Where as vampire works for humans to eradicate other vampires and Vampire Nazis are nothing new.

Amazon has already tackled insanely bloody mature comic titles like The Boys they're more then capable of producing a Hellsing live action project have a little faith people.

Cautiously optimistic about this. I also think it would have been better as a series
As for the cast, I can imagine Mads Mikkelsen as the Major.
Alucard - hmm. Nobody springs to mind.

Please be good. I love Hellsing too much, we don't need another Death Note/DragonBall treatment.
