So the Cold War Space Race but with only the loosest of fictional disguises AND with a cute vampire girl played by Megumi Hayashibara............
Okay, I've seen worse premises. Still Hayashibara-san, I thought she didn't take up these kind of roles. Hopefully, that is a good sign. But then she had a lead role in Karakuri Circus and that was crap so I don't really know. |

Definitely a different take on the Space Race.
I'm kind of amazed Megumi Hayashibara is getting a lead role that's not a reprisal, but of course she could pull off an attractive immortal vampire. |

I wouldn't mind return of Megumi Hayashibara to more leading roles.

See's Cosmonaut in the title
"Oh sweet, an anime about the Russian side of the space race, that sounds awesome" Notices the other words in the title "And of course there's a vampire" and we're in a "Fictional Realm," gotta get a couple of those anime checkboxes marked I guess... |

It might also be in order to take some risk free material, instead of focusing on the real space race of the 1950s-60s. I kind of always wondered what it would be like for a fantasy series to take on the more science approach. cause i always ask myself, how come there is this other realm that also has moons, stars and other planets but they never experiment with the idea if there is life here what else could be? Il keep an eye on it. |

I mean it certainly piques my interest, and it's unique enough that I'll give it a try. But at the same time I much prefer series mainly grounded in reality; be it slice of life, drama, romance, or even low-fantasy. This series is just going to have to go the extra mile justifying the vampire aspect for me. |

I'll keep an eye out for this one if for no other reason than it sounds different.

It seems nice, but I'd prefer it set in the real Cold War except vampires and such exist rather than emulating it in a fantasy world.

Megumi as the main female along with Roxas. I'm liking this combination. I'll be watching.

The move The Wings of Honneamise sort of fits what you're talking about. I'm actually a bit intrigued by the concept, and the production values in that sample look pretty good. I look forward to checking this one out. |

Let me introduce you to Charles Stross' The Laundry Files novels (though the vampires don't come into it until the fifth book). |
