I’ll start off. I refuse to watch Guilty Crown, that is because it was the favourite anime of that falsely accused my best friend . I refuse to watch it in case I like it and having to remember that awful woman.

I would say idol anime but Zombieland Saga changed that I guess. Maybe I can say any of the big shounen (One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball) simply because of the timesink necessary for them, which I just don't have.

Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Its popularity wasn't based on story. It was based on the same abusive tropes as what makes Game of Thrones and Walking Dead "successful". These shows are premised on the belief viewers are more interested in the "train wrecks" than of the story (regardless how thin) and because they're typically distributed among the common fair of "drama for the sake of drama" tropes, they do tend to be very successful. This is my opinion, not a fact. I don't care if people regard it as one of their best. If people enjoy NGE, great! I'm also making no claim people have bad taste if they like the series. For me, I hate this type of narrative in my entertainment. I know of everything in NGE because fans won't stop talking about the "train wreck" scenes, just as fans of GoT and TWD do today. Rarely do they ever mention the story, and there's a reason for it: not really any different than most other shows out there. Train wrecks always draw a crowd and EVA is one of the biggest train wrecks in anime history. |

No. I hate the mentality of judging things based off word-of-mouth, art style, or even premise. All of my favorite shows have been things that are more than they seem at first. I'll ALWAYS be willing to watch episode one of any show.
That being said, I'll happily drop anime if episode 1 is terrible. |

Maybe if they are meant to be indoctrination for a government's propaganda like for example, the new Karl Marx anime by the Chinese government but even then, I don't hold reservation towards historical propagandas.
Other than that, there are no limits. |

Boku no Pico or any other hentai that I would lock me up in jail. I also don't want to watch No Game no Life because of the fan service of a little girl. People that make children sexy makes me want to vomit.

If I see something with Mari Okada's name attached to it I have no desire to watch it. The shows I've seen with her as a writer have all been things I regret watching. She relies too much on melodrama and characters being stupid.

I don't have anything that I "refuse to watch" as a matter of principle.
There was a time when I considered a lot of the long-running shows as "stuff for kids and not adults like me" (think: Sailor Moon, Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Pokemon, any of the various Dragonballs) so I never got into those. These days I don't hold that same opinion, but I doubt I will watch them simply because they're a huge time commitment which I don't have. I don't like starting shows and not finishing them.
I'm kind of surprised to hear that, for two reasons: First, I think Eva has an exceptionally good story. If someone asked me to explain Eva out of the blue the two things I would stress would be the story, and the depth of the characters. Yeah it's famous for giant robot fights but that's missing the point entirely. Second, if you haven't seen Eva, how do you know if its story is any good or not? It's one thing to watch a show and have an opinion on it, but I find it hard to understand how people can have opinions on things they haven't seen. How could I consider Pokemon to be a "dumb kids show" if I haven't watched even a single episode of it? The answer is that I can't. That said, I totally understand how people talking about popular shows can turn people away. I remember when Cowboy Bebob came out and one of my friends would NOT stop talking about it which I found very off-putting, and resulted in me avoiding the show for quite some time. I've since seen it multiple times all the way through and I just don't get what the hype is about. I really don't get it at all. But it's undeniably a popular show. (BTW, just to be clear, I'm not putting down any of these shows, and I totally respect that other people might like or not like them, I'm just stating my personal opinions.) |

I did enjoy that more than Bebob, yes. That said, I do think that Outlaw Star was far from perfect. It had some art quality and consistency issues, and some of the episodes were not up to snuff IMHO, but I did prefer it to Cowboy Bebop. Just to be clear, I don't mean to put down Cowboy Bebop or its fans, I just don't personally "get" it. |

Mostly just franchises I've tried and given up on. So I'm not going to even bother with their sequels, prequels or spinoffs.
Or things that have more than 300 episodes because I've watched enough of them to know how they all turn out; filler-ridden, repetitive, and unsatisfyingly inconclusive. I also generally don't have any interest in watching sports anime, magical girl stuff, shounen ai/yuri and all those idol anime but there are exceptions there. |

That's been my opinion of a lot of those shows too. I have seen quite a lot of Ranma 1/2, though not all of it. Once you've seen the first ten or twenty eps you might as well have seen all of them. It's the same repetitive jokes, the characters (which are very simplistic to begin with) never develop or grow, and the plot is entirely stagnant. The first few episodes of those shows can be fun, but it's not too long before it becomes boring. |

Peter Chung's character designs cause a visceral "ah hell no. I'm not watching that" reaction in me.
Though most of what I won't watch is simply because it doesn't appeal to me... but we're probably talking a level beyond that here. |

its nice to see that the "too long to bother" is a common theme and not just me being a bit of a filthy casual. im never going to watch dragonball, one piece, gintama or naruto for them being too long to get into, af ew years ago and theres something about them that looks rubbish and bits I've seen in ylyl and memes videos doesnt look that interesting either. when i first got into anime it felt like ages to go through fairytail with what was then about 240 episodes, yes its not the best anime but its not bad either and i dont regret watching it
as for dragonball, since it was over here on the kids tv channels i subconsciously related it to being a kids program. to me I've got no interest in idol or music shows except show by rock which was very different and i enjoyed it, the recent zombie one is on my to watch list but im not bothered about it, i liked sound euphonium because i like brass music no interested in sports except when cute girls are involved such as long riders Mecha does nothing for me. i have watched linebarrells of iron but that was one of the first anime i watched so i didn't know the mecha genre, i watched schwarzesmarken but just because it was new at the time |

That was my impression. There's a big difference between a show that doesn't interest you or you can't be bothered to get into versus one that you "refuse to watch". The latter implies some kind of boycott, moral objection, or something like that. There are plenty of shows which don't interest me, or that I've seen and decided that I don't like, but I can't think of anything which I outright refuse to watch period. Generally speaking, sports shows, long-running shows with hundreds of eps, etc, don't appeal to me so I choose not to watch them on my own accord, but if someone puts Pokemon, DBZ, or Aim for the Ace on the TV I'm not going to leave the room and refuse to watch it. |
