My main concern is that they have a new character designer. Looking at that resume, I know the skills are there but I wonder if that preview is an indication that the characters will be somewhat stretched and skinny? I can understand a different interpretation of the signiture heavy outlines that came and went throughout the series but if the proportions are totally off it's going to be difficult to buy into as a direct continuation.

This actually sounds pretty confusing to me, is that mean the trailer we saw is independently directed and voiced instead of taking directly from complete footages? If so, is that mean the end product may differ slightly from what we got?

More or less, yeah. "pre-animated" means the footage was boarded out and animated specifically for the trailer, so none of this is necessarily going to appear in the actual TV season. Though there are certainly cases of series re-using footage from these kinds of trailers. |

Every AoT season has had a pre animated trailer and they reused some if not all the footage. Would be weird not to do the same here, at least the sakuga cuts should be reused. |

For both parts of S3, WIT mainly used already finished footage from the first 1-2 eps for their trailer tho https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpEfsDmMyF4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEzpVFCZ3HE |

I mean that's what they want you to believe. Look at the first trailer for example, all Levi and 3rd maneuver gear cuts were animated by Arifumi Imai. He worked on those cuts independently before the production of the first few episodes kicked into gear. Of course they had the intention to reuse his work from the get go, which they did in episode 2 (#39). If you watch the episode it's even more obvious, the cuts inbetween the ones from the trailer aren't as good and animated by different key animators, usually Imai would have done everything himself since he storyboards his own scenes for the sake of the flow and consistency. |

But how exactly do you know this? Did he post something on twitter where he said that? Because if they already pre-produce those trailers they could've included more stuff from later eps, like they did for season 2. Also, the timing these trailers came out match with when the production of the first 1-2 eps already were well into production (about 2 months before they first screened the finished first episode). I assume they may have focused on Imai doing some of his action shots first to have something to put in a trailer, but that would still fall into the regular episode production and not as pre-producing a trailer in my opinion. |

Hope that doesn't mean the final product is not going to look like that at all

Some stuff will likely be in the show, maybe modified a bit.
Likely many of the fancier shots will be repurposed in the OP. |
