what happened to hosoda? He just dropped off after this movie. Yuasa and Shinkai by comparison don't stop working.
Reminds me of the guy that made the amazing Time of Eve. After Patema Inverted, he vanished. |

Mirai came out just two years ago. I assume he is working in another film that could be out by 2022. Anime movies take time to be made. |

Because those markets have different distributors with claims to the film. This isn't even available in Canada, as GKIDS only has the rights to the film in the U.S. |

What are you talking about? Hosoda is working on his next movie. He said as much. Mirai came out two years ago, which probably means his next movie will be out in 2021. Three years is Hosoda's standard production time. Girl Who Leapt Through Time - 2006 Summer Wars - 2009 Wolf Children - 2012 Boy & Beast - 2015 Mirai - 2018 Also: between Your Name and Weathering With You was also three years, so Shinkai took the same time as Hosoda usually takes. Really don't understand why you think Hosoda "stopped working". |

Just in the United States? That's weird, here in South America all of Mamoru Hosoda's movies are available in Netflix, though only The Boy and the Beast is dubbed, despite the rest having their respective dubs for their home video releases, including Mirai. Perhaps Mirai will be available for other regions later.

Outside of their Netflix Original branded anime, most of Netflix's anime catalog is streaming for NA only and Netflix in other countries often has completely different anime from Netflix in NA as well. Like Netflix in most of the rest of the world has Ghibli films but it’s on HBO Max in the US.
