I dont know about Krone's choice, surely they could have scouted skin tone matched talent?

Isabella commented that she tackled her character while consulting closely with the director. She added that, "the kids became very shy around the larger-than-life Krone. I want to be an obstacle to the kids alongside Isabella."

I think this is a typo.

From a purely creative standpoint, Krone's actor looks pretty good. She's got a good, evil stare.

From a faithful standpoint, it's a shame (albeit not surprising at all) they didn't cast a black actor. That said, Krone was not the greatest black representation either...

Just how many black women do you think live in Japan? In addition to also being actresses?

I never seen the show but it's suppose to be European theme fantasy fiction right? Because those almost never work when they make all the actors Japanese, Fullmetal Alchemist, Attack on Titan anyone?

I get where you are coming from, but they do this all the time with Caucasian characters as well. So it's not as bad as it would be in somewhere like America.

Why would Japan get revenge on this? It's a Japanese manga, not an American series Laughing

Japan loves Naomi Watanabe, they're probably thrilled. I can see her being pretty intimidating.

The cast of characters is racially diverse, which I think is supposed to represent people with origins all over the world, but the setting is purely fantastical and doesn’t look recognizably similar to Europe, unlike FMA and Attack on Titan. A mostly (all?) Japanese cast won’t impact the world building much, If at all.
