They broke Japan. Getting cancelled in North America is one thing, but when a Japanese station drops the series, you know they went too far.
By the way, why does a show like this need a "regular" version? I mean, I know it's so they can get the series in as many eyeballs as possible to drive attention for the source material, even if they have to go overboard with the censorship, but for a show this explicit, it looks like that might be easier said than done.

I don't watch this anime, but they really should know their limits, and just released it as an hentai direct to video, or something.

First I've even heard of this show but doing some research on it and the stuff around it this sounds, like, genuinely gross. I can take a sex comedy - Shimoneta is absolutely hilarious - but this just feels really disgusting and pretty much dripping with all kinds of horrible, "Women are objects," vibes. I'm really not surprised everybody is cancelling this thing.

Welcome to the world of regulatory arbitrage! You make more money selling x if you don't have to comply with the regulatory framework for X but instead the less strict framework for the more general class Y of which X is a subset.

AT-X is really the only important version. Like Queen's Blade the TV censored version is absolutely pointless. All this fuss about the anime is making it more well known that it would have ever been without it, hopefully that'll translate to decent DVD/Blu-ray sales for Passione.
The anime itself though is pretty funny, look forward to each episode for as many WTF moments as possible.

Have you actually bothered to watch the show? It's a very rare example of an erotic comedy that doesn't have consent issues and sexual harassment played for jokes - you know the usual ecchi shows staple.

This like the Monty Python of Anime, If you didn't know Monty Python really pushed the boundaries of what was acceptable on TV at the time to it's breaking point.

This remains a weird thing because while the anime has pushed the content to pornographic levels by making the subtext plain text, it’s still a shounen in the terms of its structure and morality. There’s an Aesop here about not being superficial and different tastes, but the porno aspect of it ensures only adults can view it.
It’s basically a less creepy Big Mouth.

Sherris is 100% correct here. At a casual glance I could see how someone might feel that Reviewers is offensive. After all, the whole premise is guys rating the service of prostitutes so it would seem like the show would be nothing but the objectification of women, but in reality it is very different. Yes, there are sex jokes all over the place but it's honestly a very positive show. In fact, I'd say that the overall message is one of inclusion and that "all types are welcome" rather than one that pushes old stereotypes or discriminates.
Take the recent 5th episode: A mysterious stranger in disguise hires the main characters to review a Cyclops brothel. This proceeds, with the series' normal humor about how different races/people view the services offered therein. Then at the end of the episode, once all the review humor is done, it is revealed that the mysterious stranger was a Cyclops lady herself and was self-conscious about the size of her eye. The reason why she commissioned the review was to address whether or not guys really did care about her smaller-than-average eye, and it turns out that the guys weren't picky about eyeball size at all--much to her relief. That's a remarkably body-image-positive message and I can't think of the last time I saw something like that in anime period, let alone in an anime like this one.

Luckily AT-X is all that matters for their uncensored broadcast. Real shame people are giving this show such a hard time because it is actually really good. The show is really positive about a lot of things. I will never understand why stuff like this is so taboo, but hyper violent stuff is perfectly OK.

I mean, if you're going to get into discussing women-as-objects in a show that's about consensual sex work, then you're getting into a thorny subject. If someone chooses to work in sex work, they are still an employee and get paid off of capitalizing on their body. The culture around that is always going to be objectifying. The money received is compensation for having to deal with that.
And I am glad that there's a show that's willing to be absolutely honest about sex work and even play with the concept in a normalizing brand of humor. Sex is funny, full stop. This show realizes that and stands on the pedal which is why people enjoy it. If people reviewing sex workers (which happens all the time even in sex work that doesn't explicitly contain prostitution) makes you uncomfortable, that's fine. That sort of content isn't for you, and nothing's wrong with that.
On a side note
Stunk is still regularly sexually harassing Meidori, the birdmaid waitress at the pub they frequent, which is clearly non-consensual. To say that everything in the show is consensual and it doesn't play into any normal ecchi show stereotypes is unfortunately wrong.

Geez, peoples standards flip flop all the time. One day they are calling things like the "slut walk" empowering and another day they call an anime reviewing prostitutes fictional offensive.

True, but unlike in most ecchi shows, he's not getting away with it. Each time it happens he's clearly shown to be crossing a boundary of acceptable behavior and he gets swift retribution for it.

I think that the anime "getting cancelled everywhere" is actually making it good that it decided to take a spot that got cancelled instead of not airing at all, becuase of all the publicity the anime is getting.
