And another dead mom trope. Again. It's 2020 yet dead mom cliches still exist. *Insert Ahh sh!t, here we go again.*

This story is so sweet. I’ve read it several times in Japanese, and I’m excited to own it in English!

I finished the scans recently and I can't wait to pick up the print the next time I'm at Barnes & Noble! I think this one might actually be better than Mita Ori's other work 'Yamada to Shonen', and that is one of my all-time favorites.
I greatly enjoy how Mita-sensei is able to express their characters' insecurities in such a raw and honest way that is so so relatable. I rarely see mangaka who are able to understand the human condition as well as this one.

The dead mom trope has been around since the beginning of time. There's really no escaping it, and I think it's kind of shallow to drop a series just because of that. It's fine if you don't want to read it, but there are lots of media out there that don't deserve to even be touched with a ten foot pole.

Totally agreed that the lack of food, considering the theme, can be a letdown for those of us who enjoy foodie manga-- it was for me, somewhat-- but I still found this story to be super cute

Just read my copy earlier this evening! I really loved it! I also like some of the tropes it avoided (like "I'm gay, but only for you", which just happened to me in Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese) and how natural their relationship seemed to progress. I would read at least three more volumes of this adorable couple easily!
I can def see it being disappointing as a foodie manga, but given that I'm not much into those, that was actually a positive for me. I guess if you want gay foodie manga, then you'll have to go with Fumi Yoshinaga (never a bad thing!)

Because, as we all know, you can't have dead parents in years ending in "0."
