Does Pornhub have to censor western porn in order to stream in Japan? You know, because of their obscenity laws?

I doubt it, simply because that would be incredibly impractical. There is so much volume of content there's no possible way they could pay enough censors to handle it all. I doubt they could even feasibly sort their content into censored and uncensored, and its not like the tags are reliable. The article even says that the term "uncensored" is very popular so I assume they are driving it too. That said, the article only discusses search terms, not the location of requests sent to the server. I'm sure there are plenty of people who search for the term "Japanese" who aren't from Japan. I remember reading here--from a staff article, if I remember right--something about Japanese AV being extremely popular elsewhere in Asia due to lack of local AV in those countries, and even being something of "sex ed" for current youth. I'm sure there are also plenty of westerners using that particular phrase as well. |

Wow, Japanese topped the list? JAVs getting actually popular around the world I guess.
As to the question regarding censoring, from what I understand unless PornHub's servers are located in Japan they can't be taken to court by Japanese law, so I'm pretty sure anyone interested in Japan has seen their fair share of uncensored genitalia from other porn around the world. |

Hentai has far more variety than JAV or Western porn.
You're better off trying to find rankings (if any exist) for hentai searches on Nijie or Pixiv if you want to see loli on a rankings list. |

At this point, with the ease of access to international porn sites, and even ones featuring Japanese actors; what is the point of Japan censoring their porn anymore? That is an antiquated law that needs to go already. I wonder if the censoring is starting to have a financial effect on Japan's porn industry or not?
