I've been playing Mario Kart for 25 years. In my experience it does a far better job of destroying relationships than improving them.

I find it helps to go online with friends, and then take turns colluding to help each other win.
(Which is why I always thought Team Sonic Racing was a great idea, we were already doing it!)

Nintendo's party games are not the best for relationships at all, except for Wii Sports, Wii Play, and those few other shovelware titles. Mario Party is the worst of the bunch.
