By now,we know of the tragedy that happened to Kyoto Animation,one of the premiere anime studios in Japan and,to be honest,I'm not really sure what to say about it. I've seen very little of their stuff like "K-On,""Free!" or their most recent work,"Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid" so I'm at a loss. I could bathe my post in eloquent language about it's animation or rain down fiery words of righteous indignation on the piece of walking sewage responsible for what happened there or attempt to wax poetic about the thirty-four lives lost in the fire.
There are others that have done so here,on Youtube,and elsewhere have done their tributes to KyoAni in ways I can't match. I admit I'm no William Shakespeare or Joseph Conrad or someone of their caliber. I can't find the right words to say in something like this,just like it's very hard to find the right words to say about 9/11 or say them in any meaningful way. Sadly,all the tributes in the world won't restore the lives lost or the work that was destroyed in the fire. It's a sad but true statement. All we can do is give money to help restore the studio and pray for the victims and hope they're at peace and also hope that the madman responsible for this is punished to the fullest extent of Japanese law. It's a shame this happened but all we can do is hope that Kyoto Animation will rise from the ashes of this tragedy like the phoenix of ancient myth and be better than it was before because right now,hoping is the only thing we can do. |
