normally a live action video game i would panic, but this is SE. I trust their QA to not let a PoS result fly.

A western produced series is always worrying. They have the advantage of Eorzea being a western-ethnic nation, but I suspect they'll remove a lot of the Final Fantasy and Japanese elements from the series and turn it into something more akin to Game of Thrones. I don't think it will be all that great.

Personally I think this idea is doomed to fail for one major reason. Being based on FFXIV, all of the races are easy to do. Hyurs are just regular humans. Mi'qote are just regular humans with car ears and cat tails. Roegadyn are just big humans. Elezen are just tall humans with elf ears. Au Ra are just humans with scales, horns, a tail, and weird eyes.
And then there's lalafells.
Now, unless they make it so that lalafells are just tiny people like how they did the hobbits, they are going to very VERY terrifying CGI.

Very little of anything in Final Fantasy is distinctly Japanese.

The guys behind the Witcher Netflix series, huh? That doesn't sound good given what we've seen and heard about that adaption already.

Once again very little of what's been in the majority of the games is distinctly Japanese.
Or are going to pretend that things like The Weaponry, Airships, Towns, Character Archetypes, The Music, The Religious Imagery and such are all specifically Japanese in nature?
Some of the elements (some of them meaningless as they are) are distinctly Japanese yes but a good portion of the stuff you see in these games are most certainly not specifically Japanese. Same thing with DragonQuest.
