It's in no way a disaster. It's arguably on the same level of quality as the ADV dub if not slightly better.

The big flaw with the ADV dub is they always went bombastic when many scenes needed subtlety, a redub with the Rebuild cast would have been perfect.

The Netflix dub is very flat and using "Children" to refer to a single "child" comes off as illiterate and complete gibberish in English. It looks unprofessional and will be ridiculed. It makes Netflix and Khara looks foolish. With the kaworu x shinji thing they did not care to understand the fundamental importance of tone and subtext of specific scenes. The translation is technically correct but fail to take everything into context.

Fifty year olds with very limited voice range, playing 14 year olds doesn't sound perfect to me.
