Just a general question: what's up with Life is like a Boat, the closing song for the first few episodes? Is it indicative of something within the series? It makes me think Rukia has some emotional issue. From the eps. I have seen, that doesn't seem to be the case, but I can't say for certain.

Or maybe they are just using it because it sounds pretty. Just wondering.

Well she is dead, that could be an emotional issue Smile I have only seen up to episode 16 so I can't really say. But I assume she had to die to become a soul reaper and is was at an early age. So I will go with the lift unfulfilled emotional issue.

Hi. There is a thread for this kind of thing. Feel free to post in here Wink

That's for song identification, and that's not what the OP is asking about, as he clearly already knows the song title and is asking whether it parallels the series itself.

Read the thread next time?

It's actually a sequence much more appropriate to the latter half of this coming arc, in which she basically spoiler[does that for the whole thing. ]

as for this:

f you'd like to know, it is shown that spoiler[she died as an infant, and was raised in Soul Society, so she really doesn't have much "pre-death" angst to deal with, although some stuff has happened to her along the line.]

I'm glad to see there is an answer, but I will not spoil it for myself.

Thank you.

I always thought that the red string thing Rukia held in that End Theme was a Thread that connects ones finger to their soul mate(Learned that from the First Case Closed/Detective Conan Movie).

The importance of the red ribbon has already been discussed. Ishida showed Ichigo that the spirit thread of a shinigami is red.
