Yesss!!!! I thought I'd never see another Rune Factory game since the company collapsed. Definitely the highlight of the direct for me. I hope 5 adds gay marriage and maybe adds in some character customization. After playing Stardew, being stuck with only straight options would feel like a major step back.

Well I know in the original Rune Factory 4 they did a pseudo-gay option. Because in that game you could freely genderswap.

Okay so Rune Factory is already pseudo-gay being that you can change your gender at anytime.

Considering this is a Japanese game we're talking about, I wouldn't get your hopes up too high for anything that isn't straight.

Not 100% accurate since yuri and yaoi are a thing, but yeah, don't expect everyone to be bisexual or the game to let every couple to have kids freely.

If I remember right, it was only post-game you could do that. And I think it really only swapped your character portrait/model.

If it's anything like the most recent Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns, which is basically the newest Harvest Moon under a different name, then putting on clothes listed as male or female will also magically change the character model's body type. This option is available nearly from the start, or at least, as soon as you have access to a wardrobe.
There was also a character in that one who was an option for both male and female main characters, so I wouldn't completely rule a similar option out here.
