I see that they are cheaper than regular boxsets and my question is have people had problems with them. I am debating buying the AL boxset or the regular complete boxset and wanted any advice I can get. I wouldn't have thought twice about this until recently when a few posters mentioned how their AL boxset of series "Z" had glitches. Thanks

The disc problems that the Anime Legends boxsets had were, to my understanding, contained to the first pressing, and shouldn't be an issue anymore. When I received the Escaflowne AL set I ordered online, I had no playback problems whatsoever (this was about six months after its release date). If something should happen, however, here's a link to Bandai's customer service page.

In recent months I've been on a buying spree and have bought at least four Anime Legends box sets (Seikai trilogy + Outlaw Star) as part of it. Now, I haven't watched all of them, but after hearing the problems people have had, I've placed each disc in my DVD player to make sure they at least loaded (given that the bulk of complaints I've read were that the discs wouldn't even boot). I've had no problems thus far.

It's hit and miss with them. For instance my Crest of the Stars was messed up, but Outlaw Star and Escaflowne were fine. I havn't opened the Banner of the Stars set yet, but I wouldn't be suprised if I found a bad disk. (it was sitting at Best Buy forever so it's probably a first press) Altough thinking about it, I should have gotten the Regular boxset of Outlaw Star vs the cheaply made AL box.

Even that would've been a gamble, I'm afraid. The first boxset was nothing more than the three DVD collections in a box. Some batches of the first DVD collection had authoring problems; this I can attest to from personal experience (bought once, returned twice for replacements, all three times the DVD would freeze after making a selection from the main menu). |

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will just pay the extra money to get the complete box set of the Seikai Trilogy than the Anime legends. I just got the Infinite Ryvius Anime Legends boxset in the mail and I will try it out soon to see.

I've gotten several other AL collections, including Angel Links, s-CRY-ed, Arjuna, and Infinite Ryvius, but the only one of those I've watched is Arjuna. I didn't notice any problems with that, other than the plotholes and sermonizing, but that wasn't Bandai's fault |

Sorry to say but I had a problem with 1 of the 6 discs in the Outlaw Star one ( I just got them )
Doesnt actually bother me much as I tend to use a laptop the watch dvd's so while the dvd software couldnt play the disc VLC could. Other discs worked find though so... |

I think the reason why these 2 AL boxsets worked fine is because the dvds are the ones from the older releases. I bought the Escaflowne boxset( which worked perfectly) and I found out that the 8 dvds in there are the ones from the original dvd release. |
