Kind of surprised it's taken this long to release it considering how long ago it was originally released (Madman here ran the subbed version in cinemas). And it doesn't surprise me the L spin off hasn't been released. It was pretty lack-lustre compared to the other 2 Death Note films

L: Change The World was released in North America by Viz ages ago. Funimation just hasn't picked it up yet for a re-release. It would be nice if Funimation could explain why not only isn't this movie getting a dub (the other three reunited the anime's voice cast), but why their re-release of the first two films is having their dub dropped as well. Unfortunately, on social media they only seem to respond if you've got tens of thousands of followers ... |

They have a lot more explaining to do than just over the missing Viz dubs and lack of dub for this one. -Why are movies 1 & 2 bare-bones? The Viz releases had a lot of behind the scenes extras (moreso on the DVDs than on the Double Feature Blu-ray set) and yet FUNi's release has none of them, just their own trailers. -Why is the New Generaton mini-series missing from this movie release? They were made to bridge the gap between it and The Last Name and Madman was able to get them for their own release so it's not like they're unavailable. FUNi got some well-deserved heat for their crappy, bare-bones release of Shin Godzilla last year but to me, their handling of these movies are worse than that and it's a shame because they did a much better job with the Rurouni Kenshin movies in comparison. |

Ahh. Still think the same applies though, Funimation probably don't see the point in re-releasing it cause it wont do so well
In answer to this and the dub question, Viz might still own the dub which might not be included in Funi's licence, and Funi's licence might not include the extras too. Another is they might not have the time to sub the extras. In the case of Madman, they could be still working off the original Viz version, or it could be in house. Madman have done a lot of their own subs for cinematic release here in AU for anime and DVD for their Eastern Eye brand and I think also for SBS, so they have the ability. While Madman relies on American companies for dubs, subs would be easy for them to do |
