9 volumes in 26 ep versus 13 volumes in 48 ep... i hope it doesnt end up being rushed... I do hope the adapt the sequel too. There is the ww3 arc right?

Well, I'm glad we got a sequel, and not a reboot. Itwould have been incredibly disappointing to wait years for it, and then find out we were starting over. I have my doubts that a reboot would have done anything to improve the perceived limited appeal. If anything, the production committee kind of did that to themselves by not doing anything for so many years.

Unlike Hollywood, in Japan there are no lack of imagination and new stories to adapt so there are not so much need for reboots, remakes, etc.
So few anime get reboots or remakes. People tend to prefer to see the end of the story than start all over again. The only anime anime i would like to see a remake would be a Ufotable remake of the fate route on Fate/stay night using the Réalta Nua ending. In index, there so many LN's of Index still to adapt than start again would push the end of the anime too far in the future. The possibility of the LN ended before the anime catch up would be very high and with that, there would be less possibility for a full adaptation of all LN's |

Ewww, no. If CCS can have a sequel to its ANIME timeline nearly two decades after the original and be a success, then there's no reason to reboot any incomplete story.
I have a big enough issues with "recaps" in new seasons, so I'm glad they didn't go with this. Can't wait to binge this after it's done. |

I can't think of any other light novel editor who is more hyped about the franchises he works with than Kazuma Miki: as I mentioned in the series review thread, the guy has even written essays on the way esper powers work in-universe. (He was also the editor for the authors of Sword Art Online, OreImo, Shakugan no Shana, and a bunch of other big-name titles.)

A reboot wouldn't have been good to anyone, really. Season 1 was mostly fine - nobody cares too much about the content that was straightened out in volumes 2 and 4, and only a little bit was skipped - though yes it was important. Season 2 had awful pacing like Season 3 is having, but that's 7 volumes down the line, so to get that remade would take forever in any kind of serviceable pace, and also the content in Season 2 is Index's weakest anyway. Finishing the Old Testament so that New Testament is an opportunity in the future is definitely the better choice.

Yeah no ANN, a reboot was suggested when discussing what to do with the next Index season along with a New Testament adaption like the interview says.
But no where in the interview does it imply or state there were "plans" for a reboot, only suggestions and Ideas that were tossed around when thinking what to do with the series going forward. Really this makes you guys just look kinda bad, especially when the mistake just so happens to make for a slightly more controversial/sensational story. |

As much as I would've been disappointing on it being a reboot at the same time I would've have been OK with it, I don't read the LN so for what I've been reading here is that there was alot of content skipped from the LN, so rebooting the anime and them taking their time adapting all of the LN Vol. content wouldn't be that bad since I'm sure the number of people who only seen the anime over those who've read the LN is as bigger so for us there's alot of new content to keep us entertain along with refreshing our memories over thing we have forgotten so when the anime reaches the new content not adapted before we all be able to enjoy the anime more and also it could turn the anime into a(maybe) 100+ episodes series that could be ongoing without stopping every 26 episodes.

You know all too well this isn't true, Kazuma. The first two seasons were very bad, skipping a lot your novels' content and 3rd season is even worse and getting universally panned right now. |

True. But on the one hand there are a lot of good series that don't get a another season even after like say the manga or light novels ended. So wait either years later or just no season at all. Heck, I am still waiting another season for BTOOOM! A series I would like to see rebooted are either Shaman King or Rave Master. |

Plenty of anime get rebooted or remade, and probably a good 83% of anime just rehash the same story over again, anyway. It's more similar to Hollywood than you're willing to admit. |
