So I admit it: I'm curious about this. But I know nothing about how to make this work ─ and to complicate things even further, I use open source software. Where can I find information on how to make this work?

Once you have the rom you can download the English patch here. They have instructions but its very easy, you just use Lunar IPS and apply their English patch to the rom. They even have a manual, they put a lot of effort into this it seems. I use RetroArch as emulator. |

While this is admirable idea, let's not forget that fan translations are piracy outside of fair use and rights holder-approval. That said, that has not stopped me from frequenting light novel and manga translation sites.

Is rom read only memory? Where would I get it? what is ROM SHA-1: 9E90A1E4B24A68AA006B09DB607479C2FEB19FC0? what is File SHA-1: D3731FDF1E6F954C566E46A32456F5835985DE68? do the above work with Linux? I'm not finding any explanations. |

I simply applied the patch to my "Idol Hakkenden (Japan).nes". I don't use Linux but apparently Floating IPS works. I'm sure I can't share the rom file here since technically its illegal so you'll have to find it somewhere online. I think most emulators work on Linux. "We've included an IPS patch and a readme file in the package. You can use a program such as LunarIPS to apply the patch. Apply the patch to the original Japanese version of the ROM: Idol Hakkenden (J).nes" |
