In all seriousness... is there even one VN that got an english voice over? If there is I will be impressed.

It's uncommon even in OEL VNs, due to the expense, the number of lines that would need to be voiced, and the tight budgets of VNs in the West. I did a quick search for examples of where JP VNs were revoiced in English and didn't find any.

Another way to look at it: re-dubbing about 10 minutes of English-language dialogue in Muv-Luv Alternative -- originally voiced by Japanese VAs trying their best to speak in English -- was itself a stretch goal for the ML kickstarter. Dubbing the other 70 hours is simply inconceivable. At least it gave us the glorious "English can eat shit" scene in crystal clarity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pu0tbiYaHqc (NSFW)

I'm currently playing this, I didn't know they re-did the English lines. Even if the acting wasn't that great I assume its much better than the Japanese struggling trying to sound like native English speakers. That always makes me cringe.

Wanna really cringe? Check out what the MLA prologue sounded like in Engrish, prior to the Kickstarter re-dub: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIb0Qx4ZbdQ (NSFW)

BTW, the Kickstarter for the ISLAND VN just launched yesterday: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/frontwing/support-visual-novel-islands-english-game-and-anim

Since the game's already on Steam, I guess this is all about physical copies and merch.

After one day, they're at $15K of a $50K goal, so it's an OK start.
