I have Grandia II for Dreamcast... it's a very fun game that I'm glad more people will be able to get their hands on.

I was going to complain about the lack of Grandia 1 on PC, but seems like I don't have too. Nice!

Grandia II is one of my favourite video games so I'm super happy it's getting ported. I want everyone to play it!

Meanwhile, hopefully with Grandia now on Steam I can get around to finishing it.

I rank Grandia as one of my all-time favorite JRPGs. Even today, it's fairly rare to find a protagonist that wants an adventure the way Justin does.

I am immensely excited to play an HD version of the game.

"It's a TORNADO!"

Seriously, Grandia had a great combat and magic system.

I totally agree! I just loved the sense of youthful joy and awe in going on a grand adventure. It was just a lot of fun following Justin and co's travels and discoveries.

I hope the PC version will be better handled than the PS2 port which was very much subpar to its Dreamcast counterpart...

Also, that reminds me that around the time Grandia 2 was released for Dreamcast so was Skies of Arcadia. Are we ever going to get a remaster of that one to modern consoles or PC? That was one heck of a game, I still count it as one of my top played games. Unfortunately it's been in oblivion ever since the sequel was axed...

Grandia is a good game, but let's hope they fix the softlock issues from the original.

All I remember of Grandia 2 is being left with a very foul taste in my mouth. The issue was its deeply offensive handling of spoiler[religion].

Edit: I'm not going to be debating it; it's been well over a decade since I played it. I only mention this to warn away any like-minded folks who'd rather not waste a bazillion hours on it before getting to that ending.

spoiler[Why would it be an issue? There are countless ways religions have formed through ages, and there's no end to creativity in fiction. In Grandia II's case, explained in the latter parts, both Valmar and Granas were originally humans and fought a war that ended up with one of them dead and the other in pieces(literally). That tale told by the survivors eventually morphed into the religion we are told of at the beginning of Grandia II.] I have no doubt similar things happened in real life, just take a look at elements in the Greek tales and Nordic religions. Similar approach, rulers and kingdoms eventually becoming something deified, likely even applies to the Mesopotamian myths for which many of our more known religions, like Christianity and Judaism, owe a lot of their core dna to. I understand you might not like the tale itself(tastes differ) but I have to ask what you mean by 'offensive'?
