It is sad for him to die so young. R.I.P. I have watched several of the Gundam shows he worked on. Gundam 0083 is one of the most beautiful looking anime I have ever watched. Abe's talent will be missed.

Wow, that's quite young. His work was definitely some of the best in Gundam. I hope his wife and daughter are doing ok. RIP Kunihiro Abe.

That scene mentioned in the paragraph that Matsuo was talking about, it was really really good. It was my one favorite scene in the movie.

Rest in peace, Abe-san. Even if the series you work on wasn't always a good one. (Gundam 0083 being a prime example.) I'm sure you're animation always was. I'm glad to have had you on Gundam Wing and 00.

RIP Kunihiro Abe. I'm pretty sure Sunrise lost another one of their talent and asset. I wonder how the Upcoming Gundam 00 and IBO preojects look without him.

That is one hell of a list of credits. To this day 0083 is imo the best of the franchise when it comes to animation and I doubt it will ever be toppled. It's sad that the number of 2D mecha animators is dwindling. The Gundam franchise has lost a truly great animator.
Rest in peace, Abe

Sunrise needs to start classes for post graduates teaching them all the aspects of Mech animation.

He worked on Dragon Century on top of his extensive Gundam resumé. I have nothing but respect for the man. My condolences to his wife and daughter. To think we'd have the death of another prominent figure in anime just after Ishizuka's passing. Abe wasn't even old.

Goddamnit literally, he's still 50. What a talented animator. Zeta new translation had wonderful remastered animation.

It was the unique and cool mecha designs that drew me into Gundam Wing and mecha anime as a whole. Abe's list of credits in the history of mecha anime is impressive and he'll be missed by many.
