You know what? I’m cool with this. I like the Pacific Rim films, so Legendary Pictures has my faith when it comes to mecha films.

I'm really unsure how to feel about this. Legendary Pictures has a great track record for me, but Western anime live-action adaptations don't inspire confidence. I guess I can hope it's better than G-Savior, at least?

I kept thinking we would get a premium cable series.

I can't imagine this will be any good, but at least most of it probably won't take place in a big warehouse like G-Saviour.

So we won’t see the Starship Troopers props again?

This could be good if they don't "adapt" one of the gundam stories already made, but instead make an all new story that fits the format of a movie.

This could "look" good, but let us be frank no matter which team or adaptation or whatever incarnation the writing is going to end up likely being pretty bad.

They tried doing that before, it was terrible.
Honestly anime live action never seems to work out, especially not stuff that aren't drama. So why even bother?
But w/e in the end all I care is whether or not I'll get cool gunplay out of it. So I hope they make the movie about stardust memory, cause they really need some updated MG.

It should not be that hard to make a good Gundam movie.
Gundam is basically just war epics only with giant robots instead of tanks.
So maybe something like Fury only instead of an old tank their riding around in, its an old Mobile Suit.
All in all Legendary has got the effects down pat. All we need is a good script & director & we have got ourselves a good movie.

Plenty of reason it could be good. I hope it has the right people and can be good.

All very true.
It's strange, though. I should be really excited and pumped for this, as you can make a strong movie out of Gundam either as an adaptation or brand-new story, but I feel more nonplussed about it. Sort of like "OK, let's see what you do, and then we'll talk", but not in a wholly-jaded way, either…

I don’t blame you, live-action anime movies usually end up duds more often than not so it’s hard to get excited. They have’t reached that general consistent quality of goodness & success that Marvel is capable of with its live-action comic book movies.

That's what I'm thinking. MSG has such a huge multi-verse that I think Hollywood can get away with telling their own story, just as long as they keep the basic elements. It's not like with "Dragon Ball" where the story has stayed in one timeline for the most part.
