Memes.
Toonami has them now.
But the question is, will this become some kind of cult hit like Shin-Chan?

Finally, the promised non-action anime. Hopefully, if this is successful, we'll get more anime that are outside of their normal genre. (I've seen a lot of requests for Osomatsu-san and Dragon Maid.)

That sounds like a good idea to me

I was wondering what the plan was since Kai finishes this week. I suppose this isn't surprising since I've seen plenty of comparisons to adult swims own shows, so it probably seemed like an easy fit.

Personally, I feel it would fit better with Adult Swim comedy, but whatever.

Watch them localize all the jokes so they're even worse than they already were

Hate to break it to ya (not really), but as someone who's watched the entirety of Pop Team Epic in English and Japanese, pretty much all the jokes were kept intact in the English version.

is this supposed to be July 1... or is there some obscure rule about these after-midnight times needing to be in the same month?

If Poptepic does well in the ratings, I'd say those two have a very strong chance of appearing. But my guess is that this is airing as a sort of trial balloon for more comedy shows on Toonami. Since it's only 12 episodes there's not much long-term risk to doing it this way.

Wasn’t expecting this show, but I was wondering what would replace Kai. I do agree with another poster that this show is more in line with AS’s dumb comedy they like to do. Just from what I’ve heard anyway I’ve never watched it.

Eh, why not? I like most of what's on now (save for Black Clover, not my thing), but a little more variety is fine.
