the problem unfortunately with RE is that its following the same anime road as with root a. which means that the series isn't faithful let alone is considered to be canon to the manga.
ESPECIALLY since there A LOT OF THINGS THAT occurred in the anime versions of root a & re but never did in the manga! those of which i wont say cause the last thing i want is to get flagged by the admins again. |

/quote] What have you been smoking? xD It's the exact opposite. The :Re anime IS following the manga. The problem is that's it's retconing Root A, which is to say that you're missing half of part 1 of Tokyo Ghoul. <.< Cause yes, that warning they put out saying you should read the first part of TG in preparation for season 3 was cause of this. |

I'm an anime only viewer...I barely have time to keep up with the shows I watch every week, and then asking me to add manga on top is just really hard to fit in (I always make sure to keep up with Attack on Titan though). But...Tokyo Ghoul as a whole is one of those shows that is getting so much slack for being unfaithful to the manga that I think I just need to buckle down and read it. My favorite character is Shu, and I'm finding that I know next to little about him except that he's obsessed with Kaneki.
That being said, as an anime only fan at the moment, I have enjoyed Tokyo Ghoul from the start. It might not always make the most coherent sense, and the cast is growing to the point where I have to stop and think about who's on screen at times, but it is most definitely worth a watch. From the voice actors, to the feels, to the insane characters that give this story life, it's been a very fun ride for me. As far as :re goes, I've been really enjoying Urie and Mutsuki, and I love seeing Sasaki in protective mom mode. Thanks for the review guys. This Week In Anime is always a fun read! |

its worth watching for sure, im loving it so far, and its also possible that I love it because i dont read the manga so i dont know which parts are in or not in it, im just enjoying it strictly from the anime point of view

I also dont read the manga but I agree I have enjoyed all the Tokyo Ghoul series and thats probably because I didn't know what was from the manga and what wasnt |

Well, I'm absolutely loving :re! I think it's the best of all three seasons! As for the second season, yes unfortunately it doesn't follow the manga but even so, it's a good idea to read the manga anyway. It gives more info and is darker. However, my main complaint with Tokyo Ghoul is there are way too many characters to keep up with! And the manga can be confusing at times but the anime usually makes things a bit clearer. So I recommend both the anime AND the manga when it comes to enjoying Tokyo Ghoul!

I agree. The manga is much more detailed and rich. Like for exemple when the CCG is preparing an assault, we get to see the plan being presented, then the preparation and finally the attack and its consequences. But I also like the anime version, it's very entertaining and all mangas don't need to be "copy/paste" of the manga. Also, the only problem I can see because of the changes made by Root A is: spoiler[-Hide's fate. Root A let clear he died (or a least seemed to have died) and then Kaneki was taken down by Arima. So I wondered how they'll explain what happened to him.] |

I hope my memory is just poor. I feel like the character designs are animation are far worse this time around. It's just pretty painful for me to watch. Looks low budget, which isn't something I would expect from Tokyo Ghoul. Story feels like they've already run out of ideas, honestly. It's not not fun to watch, but it's not really "Hype" or anything. I definitely can't recommend it to anyone
Also, Nick, HOW DO YOU LIVE WITH THOSE SUBS? The outlines are way too thin (if they even exist), the white font blends in the with bright backgrounds way too much. Thicker black borders with white text should be a legal requirement for subtitles. |

I don't think Saiko is meant to be *super* developed compared to the others, she's just the heart of the group, the one that defines the Quinx as a family.
That being said, I don't think it would've been too much trouble for the anime to spend a minute or two explaining why Saiko is here to begin with, because it really does greatly explain both her attachment to the Quinx and Sasaki as well as her lack of interest in doing her job, namely that she was pretty much abandoned at the CCG by her mother so she could make some money volunteering Saiko as a test subject against her will, meaning Saiko is also the only Quinx who *isn't* there by choice. Maybe the anime will opt to reveal that later, but it's not really something I see the point of postponing, so I'll just assume they won't explain it at all. As for the anime as a whole, I can definitely say I miss what Morita brought to Tokyo Ghoul, he made everything feel so incredibly visceral and raw, but as a fan of :re's story, I think the adaptation is definitely more than passable. A few things that I wish were kept intact, the animation is uneven, and the experience has to feel a little jarring at points for those who came off of Root A and not the manga, but I've still enjoyed watching it. Oh, and Kaneki's amnesia and how it happened will be explained later on, but needless to say it's very consistent with Kaneki's other behavior as we've seen him up until :re. |

but its because of THAT reason is why most TG fans, including fans from the japanese side to pretty much consider this non canon since its retconing root a instead of having this season similar to the impure king arc! |
