Oh finally nice to see the review for Lupin up!
Great show and has that classic feeling of Lupin. The episodic adventures are really fun and I love the majority of the cast including that new girl named Rebecca; especially the rivalry she sometimes have with Fujiko. The music, action, and comedy is great too. Definitely great show. |

This has seriously been the anime of 2015-2016 . Seriously the direction . the dialogue , the animation , the music . This is a masterpiece without a doubt one of the finest anime in recent years .
Though in terms of my favorite episodes 8 , Haunted Hotel , and episode 13 , Defeat of Lupin III . just mmmmmm soooo gooood !!!!! |

I definitely enjoy the look of Lupin's new series, but I was hoping a few more changes to the formula were made.
If Zenigata isn't going to be Lupin's foil, somebody should be. I think it would be much better to have the main characters face opponents with formidable combat and deductive skills. Because this is a short series, they don't have to drag out the characters for dozens of episodes with little progress. Still, despite my complaints...I can't say that I am not interested in watching more. |

I've been absolutely loving it, and with a new dub on the way starring the excellent Pioneer cast (check Richard Epcar's twitter) I hope it creates a new generation of Lupin fans.

Really a great series that deserves more attention, surprise by how good this new Lupin series has turned out. It feels like a slightly more grounded version of Part 1 when Miyazaki and Isao took over the series directing chair.
Anyways here's hoping the series get greenlighted for a 2nd season. |

Nix. Nix is that person. Nix is the best new character in the Lupin franchise. Certainly for Blupin. I feel like it's a great time to be a fan of the franchise again after so many years of mediocre to terrible TV specials that desperately tried to recapture either the earlier, better TV specials and movies or just felt there for obligation's sake. And really, it's all because of the groundwork The Woman Called Fujiko Mine laid, Jigen's Gravestone continued, and now this show hones. |

Well its about damn time. Took Funimation long enough. This anime needs all the help it can get.

Great recap/review, Rose. Deserves to be read by many. I wish I could analyze/write as eloquently as you can.
This series is running on Crunchyroll, not Funimation. But I otherwise agree with your sentiment! |

Whoops. Didn't notice because I just watched the fansubs. I usually watch on legal streaming sites, but for Lupin I couldn't wait for it; it needed to be done NOW. Also I've called up Zenigata, you'd better start running. |

Good to hear positive things about the new series. I have the 1st series that Discotek put out in my backlog and don't want to watch this one until I've watched that (I feel like it'd be hard to go back), but I look forward to reading the upcoming reviews.

I wonder if things will end at episode 26, or if it will go longer. I am hoping for the latter.

In fact, it's only 24 episodes, plus two "bonus" episodes (that aired during the Italian airing, but not in the Japanese). Then there's the TV special follow-up, which reuses some of the material from the TV series (stingy). There doesn't seem to be any plans for more episodes. I don't think they're up to doing 100+ Lupin TV shows nowadays. Especially with the high budget of this one. |

I find myself enjoying the stand-alone episodes of this series much more than the Italian Dream/MI6 plotline. This episode in particular didn't really catch my interest because I felt it rushed through getting all those characters in the same place and then did practically nothing with having them there. I might have liked this more if it had been split into two episodes and had involved more build-up for the mystery instead of having Lupin just explain everything to the others.
The final part with the aircraft was fun, though. |

Episode 18 was fantastic; 5 stars. I have figured out that a clone of Leonardo da Vinci was involved since the Mona Lisa episode, but it was entertaining and fun how it was confirmed. I look forward to an awesome conclusion.
On another matter, this is my first time posting in this thread, and it is a bit disheartening that so few comments have been posted. I thought more people were going to be excited about this Lupin show.
I think six episodes remain. |
