Figured this would be the case. Withdrew my requested days off work weeks ago.

I completely understand, especially since California was one of the states hit the hardest.

But I can’t say I’m not disappointed. I was actually picked to be an artist this year too, so I was very excited. I wonder how they’re going to handle artist alley and the vendors...

Every other con on Memorial Day weekend (Anime North, A-Kon, Momocon) cancelled weeks ago, so this was entirely (if unfortunately) expected.

I had thought that mid-summer cons like AX and Otakon might have a chance of going on, but now I’m reading that large gatherings like this are probably out of the question until at least fall, and maybe through the end of the year. Maybe we’ll get AWA or NYAF; or maybe the whole year is toast.

Yeah, I'm almost at a point where I'd prefer that the convention I usually go to decided to cancel since jumping right back into big gatherings seems like a bad idea. Con crud was already a thing. Not to mention, I could easily see guests canceling or declining invitations for that reason and because they would be coming from areas with far more confirmed cases than the convention location.
