Actually, the given name of the actor in question (西田敏行) is Toshiyuki. Not Yoshiyuki. It seems to be odd that a journalist on Japanese media and entertainment industries doesn't know the name of a big-name actor like Nishida Toshiyuki.
Actually, the name of the university in question (バカ田大学) in Tensai Bakabon is Bakada University. Not Bakata. As to the reason why the reading of the kanji 田 in this case is 'da', read parts about 'rendaku' in scholarly books on the Japanese language. In the first place, the term Bakada University is a parody of 'Waseda University', which is the name of a real-life prestigious university. 'Da' of 'Bakada' also functions as a dantei-no-jodōshi 'bound morpheme'. See the furigana for the kanji 田 being 'da'. This is a thing which I have said also to Ms Jennifer Sherman, but Dr Edwin Oldfather Reischauer attended Oberlin College, which Ms Karen Ressler, too, attended. However, Dr Reischauer studied Japanology also at Harvard, Langues O', Tokyo Imperial University, and Kyoto Imperial University. If Ms Ressler works in a Japan-related field and wants to produce high-quality results, it may be better for her to study Japanology harder like Dr Reischauer. |
