Sigh. I already spent too much money this month on non-anime related purchases, but I gave in and at least pledge for the basic (+ 2 Goodies) reward. FFS. I love me some Gunsmith Cats.

Yeah, there are plenty of people who create a 4-page comic but charge if for thousands of time less. |

I plunked down a cool $157 on this one. That's the single most money I've ever spent on a Kickstarter campaign, but Gunsmith Cats is easily my all-time favorite anime OVA, and I wanted to have my name in the credits.

I got my pledge in yeterday being that I have every piece of gunsmith cats media and merchandise this was a no brainer.
But even though I did have the funds I didn't give in to temptation and buy one of the $2,500, $4,000 , or $10,000 dollar pledge levels for the original artwork. Just couldn't spend that kind of money when I could buy many other things hell with that kind of money I could get Rally's CZ-75 Model 1 short frame if one ever turned up and they are extremely rare. Now that is something I would buy in a heart beat. As of last count 10 minutes ago the number of Blu Ray discs needed to be printed is over 1,412 copies in under 24 hours. Even my best friend who doesn't watch Anime at all pledged for a copy since this was the only series who could get into being a American setting with American characters etc. |

It is essentially a freebie thrown in, to thank people for backing. Stretch goals aren't making nearly as much money as the dollar amount. It has to factor in all the production costs. From that $25k I would be very surprised if as much as $5-$6k was left over after all the costs are removed. And that is the costs from the original production, not the stretch goal. Still continuously amazed when people treat KS money as if every dollar is profit, also sadly people running Kickstarters often make this strange assumption. Which is why so many fail. Most of leftover money would be going towards one of the higher goals if they were attained. So all in all this 4 page manga is being done for nothing. |
