The only two major observations I have is that no new Winter shows are in the top 3 of the cumulative; I expected to see Violet Evergarden there. And DARLING in the FRANXX is kind of low in the cumulative.

A Place Further than the Universe only after 4 episodes is by far the aots.

I'm a little disappointed to see Pop Team Epic didn't end up first. Lost to both Death march and Junji Ito.

I am happy that After the Rain seems to be doing well. And Gintama is always loveable. My most anticipated was Junji Ito and it disappointed me, though I half expected it to do so the moment I read that it would be adapted. I haven't been keeping up with my second most anticipated either, Overlord, but that is because I caved and read the manga about a month ago. I love those lizard folks so much!
I still have to give A Place Further Than the Universe a shot. I just couldn't bring myself to start the first episode for some reason. I don't know why not! I loved No Game No Life! I have to get over myself. I am still riding high from the feelings left over from binging Land of the Lustrous and then the manga too right after, so I don't feel any particular urgency to start this season in earnest yet. |

I expect Super to drop out of the top three and be replaced by either Clear Card or A Place Further Than the Universe sooner or later, so that will probably change, although Gintama and March could very well keep their spots for much of the rest of the season. As for Franxx, its ranking seems about in line with what would be expected from the ratings, as the second episode’s average user rating was just below 4, which generally put you closer to the bottom than the top. ————————- Not surprisingly Junji Ito is at the bottom, given the very flawed adaptation, especially visually. More of a disappointment than anything. |

FRANXX was too sexy for ANN folks. Hopefully they'll get over it. It's easily one of the best show this season so far.
Cool too see Black Clover rise though. |

It's shallow, posses no idea that haven't been thoroughly explored in previous mech show (eva and so many others) and has nothing to say beyond "hey ever notice that teenager can be horny!?" except it doesn't actually have the balls to say even that directly and has to resort to symbolism. |

"Has nothing to say" This is a 24 epsiode series... It's on episode 2, almost 3.... That's why I don't like some anime fans... [expletive] goldfish attention span. <.< |

The first few episodes are make or break, episode 1 is the single most important moment for a show, people that drop show rarely come back later, so you need to make sure you hook the viewer. You absolutely want to introduce your major theme in the first episode otherwise you lose people. If the show has anything more to say that will be explored later on, not putting or at least hinting at them in the first episode speaks volume about the director ability. Unless you believe it's going for a Madoka moment where it'll have a big change or twist, but even that you want to put some hint of that. Anyway, the topic was "why was Franxx ranking low" at this point, not "will it have something to say at some point". |

I'm surprised to see Gintama back at the top, given that the current arc is in a sort of preparation stage and nothing much is happening at the moment.
