Oh goodness no. I love a lot of things about Japan, but terrible sounding synthetic voices attempting to "sing" is not one of them. Give me actual voices. Japan has tons of lovely sounding ones.

This is a little off-topic, but isn't Last Night, Good Night just the worst possible song that could've been chosen for that sort of remix? Wouldn't Yellow or something be better? It's at complete odds with the music, both the lyrics and melody.

I love Miku/Vocaloid music ever since I heard Miku sing for the first time in late 2007, Miku/vocaloid technology is still evolving, and I'm looking forward to vocaloid music from now and to the future.

I'm glad for any positive interest in vocaloids from the West, but please for god's sake put that travesty of a collab with Pharrell behind us *shudders*. That is not the future I see for vocaloid entering western music spheres. Vocaloids have already slowly started entering the edm scene, even being used by popular artists, like Porter Robinson's "Sad Machine". The thing is, it's not Miku who's leading the charge, but English vocaloids like Avanna and Gumi English who are used the most outside of the vocaloid fandom. It's quiet frustrating that articles always put the focus on Miku only, even if she is my favorite.

Agreed. Call me when they get Sharon Apple up and running, but until then, you can keep the ridiculous-sounding things.

As a professional musician, I understand that technology has had a hand in evolving music and will continue to do so, but to me, something that sounds so artificial, and was done only using computers just doesn't sit right with me. As it is, a lot of people with degrees in music have had to look for jobs elsewhere because people don't care about their talent and hard work; the music industry has focused only on moneymaking, and they look for attractive people they can autotune. There are a handful of exceptions (which I'm grateful for), but if this continues, eventually musicians will be seen as obsolete.

And I myself don't like things that sound 'too perfect'. It's not natural, human, hell, I can ever say organic. It may be considered what we call musique concrète. but I'm old-fashioned in that way. I don't like it, and I've never agreed to it. In fact, hearing anything with Vocaloids in it gives me headaches and even earaches.

I quite like the remix, its relaxing and soothing version compared to the original, emotional and powerful. I'm probably the only few.

I agree with many others here, please no! Pop music has already become far too electronic. I don't like it. I wish people would appreciate the sound of acoustic instruments and vocals again.

I like Vocaloid stuff as a diversion, but I wouldn't want it as a replacement.

As am I. Vocaloid technology is indeed evolving, and I wonder what it can become in ten to twenty years. As I see it, Vocaloid's greatest gift is to provide a back door to musical expression for those without vocal talents (like me, if you must know). Wink And for those who find it strange that Vocaloid can excite an audience, try attending a concert sometime. (I did, in May 2016 , and I'd go again in a heartbeat).

That said, I submit that speech/music synthesis will never replace the human voice, nor should it try. In the end, Vocaloid is a viable but clearly alternative form of artistry.

I cannot believe someone thought this was a good idea. Then again the craziest of things has happened before. Confused

Way to go, Miku. It's nice to see more people recognize Vocaloid.

While Gumi is pretty good, Avanna is meh IMO, I'd prefer Daina or even Sonika over her.

A vocaloid cannot replace good singers such as Yui Ogura or Nana Mizuki. The BBC is spouting complete nonsense.
