Honestly,
I just don't see the appeal of being the first kid on the block to import a movie from Japan anymore... Given how most of the coveted licenses are getting released within a year in the States, I'd just as soon wait and pay half or less of the Japanese going price. The release windows are shrinking. I bet we'll see this film on video by fall next year if not mid- or late-summer. I'll wait... Probably see it in theaters first to see if it's really worth getting. So far,the anime I've seen in-theaters has been worth getting the home video release for. Much, much better track record for me than most of the "conventional" Hollywood releases. |

For me the only reason would be getting the 4k version since I doubt we'll be getting that in the US https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B07864VPBQ/

As far as I know BD only comes with those PGS subs that are rumored to cause eye cancer. Also: region locking. It's cool that they think globally, but the entire system is made to screw the customer over.

I don't know about the subs for this release, but I have about 40 Japanese releases in my collection and none of them have PGS subtitles and the vast majority of them are also region free(not that it matters if you are in NA because Japan has the exact same region).
It's not about getting it first, it's not about price, and it's also not about availability a lot of the time. It's about having extras that are not available through a domestic release, having something that is rare outside of Japan, and supporting the media at a more fundamental level. |

I’d really like to see this in the theater but I live so far from everything!
I cannot speak for others but for myself I import for the content included in addition to the anime itself. I’ve got a small import collection 200-250 Blu-ray discs (I’d do an exact count if I was home) but I always try to make sure each purchase is something special. |
