Thanks Theron for actually reviewing the fan service aspects of this series! Sometimes fan service gets disregarded altogether when these types of manga (or shows) get reviewed but it's pretty valuable to know whether the main selling point is worth it or not. I mean I'm not going to by HxHeart for the story but knowing the service is also mediocre is important knowledge.

Well if the manga can go much further than where the anime ended the fan service factor steps up quite a bit that spoiler[it turns R18] which is something DAnime hyper hasn't done yet though I think Shinmai Maou is pretty close

uh not really. the only one that is actually close to that is triage x when it comes to pushing the ecchi boundaries. then there's valkyrie drive which REALLY pushes the boundaries. so in that sense , shinmai mao no testament isnt that close to pushing the boundaries.

− Doesn't go far enough with its fanservice, limited appeal if you're not into big breasts

i dont think that's a negative per se. i mean if its all about fanservice 24/7 365 , then it will more or less be like maken-ki or kodomo no jikan. its clear the author wants to do a balance on the fanservice which worked quite well for dxd , shinmai , queens blade , and sekirei.

while it is indeed a rough start, its pretty decent. though the LN haven't been released as yet which makes me wonder if the LN is even more risque than the manga version (if its actually been watered down) to the point that no US publisher wants to license it. i mean LN fans of trinity seven have pretty much said that is the case for its manga version.

The LN series is by now porn and includes spoiler[the main guy banging his mom and sister].

I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I clicked the link, but I think this is a really good review. Thanks for writing it.

My impression of the series was that the whole groping situation feels forced compared to other similar series. Also, what first drew me to HxHMAA was actually the action and aliens and equipment design, which I guess were pretty generic in this version too.

kinghumanity, I don't know because I don't read the LN fan translations. Try looking at the series' wiki.
