Tenshi no 3p sold about 3x what I was expecting.

Looks like Princess Principal will top off at around 6k per volume. Don’t know if that’ll be enough to warrant a second season...

I think how well the mobage is doing is more critical to a potentional season than disc sales. |

I was hoping for Princess Principal to reach 7k this week, but it's alright; the show is already a success.
I don't think so. Merchandise and overseas streaming money are important, but it probably needs to average at least 10k to see a second season. If it was a manga/LN adaptation 4k could be enough for a sequel. |

Chill out. I did mention other factors, and I am not disregarding them. I am not claiming any authority on this; I am just speculating. And it would be cool if more Princess Principal is made. |

No worries. Like I said, more pripri would be cool (the show is well done, and I really like it), but I am not optimistic about it because the disc sales numbers we have are not super strong. But I understand the industry has evolved and more factors are involved in determining the success and potential sequels of an anime show. If those other factors make pripri that much more successful, and we get more anime content, I would be happy. |

The sales for PriPri are actually REALLY strong. 6k per volume puts it well into the black on every metric. When you factor in(the often forgotten or discounted) streaming numbers, this is far and away successful enough to get a sequel, IF they want to, or can. We are well beyond the days where something needed even that arbitrary old 3k manabi line to get a sequel.

I am not trying to be negative, but I would not assume that Princess Principal is successful enough to warrant a sequel. I will not obsess over Japanese disc sales because other factors are involved. But we don't know how much overseas money this property has made; it could be as much as 3 million dollars or it could be as little as 300,000 dollars. I assume that merchandise sales will be big if the property is popular, and I know that disc sales are not everything, but 6k does not sound as that popular. I agree that the industry is evolving, and Japanese disc sales are no longer crucial, but unless we are told how much of an impact overseas streaming and merchandise have, I will keep using disc sales as a guide for success. If the first volume of pripri has sold 23k or more I will be saying: sequel assured. |

To be frank, we don't need to assume anything at all. This franchise is profitable enough to warrant a sequel(disbarring incredibly poor management of the money). It's going to be up to the producers whether or not it's worth it to them, specifically, but looking at the numbers, this series made enough money to easily justify a sequel.
Nothing wrong with using them as a fluid benchmark, but your idea of what constitutes a success is remarkably skewed. 6k is well beyond the point where you should feel comfortable. Also, here are a couple of sources where you can, as a matter of fact, see how much of an impact overseas revenue has/had. |

Don't give me wrong, 6k is a success, but that number does not scream sequel to me. That being said I would be happy to be proven wrong. It may not sound like it, but I want to see overseas revenue keep growing and impacting the anime industry in a positive way. And thanks for the links. |

A bit surprised that Angel's 3Piece scored above 1,500—I didn't it would reach 1,000!

I'm not surprised by it, but I wish Classroom of the Elite's sales weren't this low, since I was really looking forward to a 2nd season.
