It's a sweet story, Latina can be really adorable, her actions and especially the (few unfortunately) in-novel illustrations. Too sweet sometimes, and that aspect just gets worse in the second volume...
It's adorable, just... based on the developments of the later web novel chapters/light novel volumes, it eventually finds itself in the same place as Usagi Drop. So readers beware...

There's presently 5 LN volumes out in Japanese.
From what I've gathered, Latina's past will be revealed around Vols 4-5, which in turn is connected to the sociopolitics of devil society.

Thanks for the heads-up. I had been thinking about picking this up, but I am definitely not interested in that kind of story.

Damn, it sounded like it was going to be a nice story but if that is how the story turns out than that is very unfortunate. I try not to throw stones but that type of story change has become common enough that it is its own genre and I think that is sad.

Right off the bat... Wouldn't "If it's For My Daughter, I'd Even Become a Demon Lord" be better? It's a fantasy where beating Demon Lords are every other Tuesday...
Wait, Usagi Drop? So I took another look at that key image and... Ah. Yeah, it's pretty blatant. While it's still a loving caress, it now comes off a lot less cutesy, a lot more smitten with her closed eye and the hand on his chest... also, he's clearly groping her butt. Why is his hand even open? Just support her, don't grab...

Do you not know how to use spoilers correctly? Because you aren't spoiling anything. Also get your mind out of the gutter, he ain't doing anything sexually. He's just holding her and she's not making it look sexual either.

IIRC, that happens in the web novels which already ended while the light novels are still ongoing and might not follow how the web novel goes since most web novels stories get changed in the light novels like in Tsuyokute New Saga, where one character who was a bad guy was killed in the web novels but in the light novels that character survived and became a frenemy of the Heroes.

I sincerely hope that they drop that aspect of the story; I'll wait a few volumes to see if that's the case before picking up any.
I was genuinely excited for this book when I read the description but someone had left "Yeeeeaah, heads up" comments; What a major disappointment that was: It'd be nice to be able to pick up a series, which for all appearances is a sweet story, without worrying about it descending into incest.

(Added spoiler tag in quote... might want to in original.)
Assuming that the warning is accurate, this is kind of the point of the set-up... i.e., they aren't related. Also, that type of content has become its own sub-genre, so if that were to occur in this, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Whoosh!
I think everybody commenting knows they aren't related. That's irrelevant. Screwing the child you've adopted once they're grown is really frowned upon by most people.

With posters saying they are and posters saying they aren't doing anything, sounds like we will need to read the manga to find out.

Yes.
And I want to read it now more than before. Every time the Morality Police for Japanese Imports get in a snit, I get interested, if only to spite them. I bet I'm not the only one.

It sounds like that is the direction the web novels are going in and I can't see it going down the Usagi Drop road unless that is also the planned destination.

I'm finding this entire comment thread to be distressing. I enjoyed this novel on its own merits and will continue to enjoy the series until it forces me out (if a terrible twist occurs)
