This is big.
This is big.
Can this be a thing? Can stage plays stream? Even for unpopular series?
Stage plays are such a big thing with anime in Japan, there are so many popular series that have big parts of the story that are only in the stage plays (like Touken Ranbu and Tsukiuta). This is why those series aren't popular outside of Japan, because you really can't get into them without the games, stage plays, audio dramas that don't get exported. But this is such a big step.
Can they stream the K: Lost Small World stage play? Or any of the Tsukiuta ones? Please? Please?

From a rights perspective, I think it's been possible for a while for at least the ones that came out on DVD to get licensed.
But they are hell to produce. No final scripts because each performance is a little different. Song rights to clear...
The reason they've never been done officially I think is mainly no one has had the balls (and money) to try it. It's harder and more expensive than just licensing and producing anime with less potential upside.
But perhaps that calculus is changing and it might be possible now.

Nice, I hope this becomes more of a thing. There have been so many stage plays. A few I would be interested in watching.

Never thought I'd see a stage play available on Amazon. I may check it out.
