The cheese itself is Swiss. The manga makes it sound like the serving over potatoes like it is shown is a British invention. Either way, that's the chapter the mangaka has put it in.

I have certainly never heard of such a pairing! Perhaps the more customary of regional delicacies were vetoed by the manga's editor for the sake of palatability...
